KaiXinI just upgraded <a href="https://snac.bsd.cafe?t=openbsd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#OpenBSD</a> from 7.1 all the way up to 7.7 one release at a time in a <a href="https://snac.bsd.cafe?t=kvm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#KVM</a> VM running on my laptop <a href="https://snac.bsd.cafe?t=debian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Debian</a>. At first <a href="https://snac.bsd.cafe?t=tcsh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#tcsh</a> and <a href="https://snac.bsd.cafe?t=vim" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#vim</a> were giving coredumps. I realized I did not even run <a href="https://snac.bsd.cafe?t=pkg_add" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#pkg_add</a> even once so I did a <code>doas pkg_add -u</code>. Siderea, Sibylla Bostoniensis<p>Hey, <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> people. I installed <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/tcsh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>tcsh</span></a> and set it as an account's shell, and now when I log in to that account, I can log in fine, but I get an error "Illegal variable name." after the MOTD. I can't figure out where the problem is.</p><p>I don't have any tcsh or csh dot files in there. (There's bash dot files, but I don't think tcsh reads those.)</p><p>I figured it might be in /etc/csh.cshrc (which the tcsh man page says it reads), but zeroing that out didn't fix it.</p><p>Where else do I look?</p>
