»"Sparing humanitarian aids is no longer a matter of course," UN Deputy Secretary-General Fletcher lamented in Bern [Switzerland]: "24 hours ago, another employee of mine was killed in Gaza, in a warehouse for humanitarian goods, which should not be attacked."
At the same time, the Israeli government wants to control all humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip in the future, up to the distribution to the needy. (…)

„The UN has expressed concern that the ceasefire in Gaza could be endangered by Israel’s assault on the West Bank city of Jenin, which has involved what the UN human rights spokesperson labelled “unnecessary or disproportionate use of force”.
[T]he UN human rights office called Israeli tactics in Jenin “deadly operations”, after Israel targeted a refugee camp (…) and … a … hospital.“

„The U.N. estimates that more than 50 million tons of debris now cover Gaza's streets, an amount roughly 12 times the size of the Great Pyramid of Giza.

It said that, even with a fleet of over 100 trucks working full-time, clearing the rubble would take over 15 years.

The debris is also laced with unexploded ordnance, toxic materials and human remains—complicating any attempt to restore normalcy.“
