Because vaccination doesn’t make you immune; it makes you resistant. Instead of Covid putting me in the hospital, it felt like a mild cold. In the past week alone, presentations to our emergency departments increased by almost 22% for people with influenza-like illness.</p><p>We are expecting the flu season will be around for several weeks to come, so now is the time to book in for your free flu vaccine to get the vital protection you need.</p><p>Chant said people over 65 are at a higher risk of severe illness from the flu, but only 52.4% have received their vaccine. The vaccine is free for those at risk, including over 65s. <a href="https://aus.social/tags/auspol" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>auspol</span></a></p>
Delphi<p>Serious question.<br>Are the people who are ignoring <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/covid" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>covid</span></a> not catching it? <br>Unless you're in the small number who continue to be <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/vaccinated" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vaccinated</span></a> your previous <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Covid19vaccinations" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Covid19vaccinations</span></a> are unlikely to be effective (especially since it's changed so much e.g. <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/JN1" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>JN1</span></a>, <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/FLiRT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FLiRT</span></a> & <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/KP2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KP2</span></a>).<br>It seems odd to me that <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/immunity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>immunity</span></a> through getting the <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/disease" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>disease</span></a> is lauded as <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/protection" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>protection</span></a>.
