I'm not sure as to the extent of spread of this phrase throughout Australia but it is common among the tradies of my family. It indicates a sorry state of things or poor quality.

Usage example:

  • Ray: g'day bob. I see we're tackling the front door today?
  • Bob: yeah. Door's solid but the jam's a bit "how ya goin'?".
  • Ray: won't hold a screw?
  • Bob: yeah, like me missus 😆
