As well as being musical trailblazers, and political champions of a Treaty, Yothu Yindi were quite innovative in their contractual arrangements to provide for recognition of Indigenous intellectual property. <a href="https://brisbanepowerhouse.org/events/yothu-yindi/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">brisbanepowerhouse.org/events/</span><span class="invisible">yothu-yindi/</span></a> In many ways, a band ahead of their time. <a href="https://aus.social/tags/IndigenousIP" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>IndigenousIP</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/music" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>music</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/copyright" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>copyright</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/voicetreatytruth" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>voicetreatytruth</span></a></p>

The Voice is simply seeking reconciliation, the restoration of friendly relations between Aboriginal and non aboriginal Australians

Noel Pearson articulates this well in an interview with Patricia Karvelas on ABC RN, saying “Australian people need to understand that this demand for detail is a diversion. It’s a diversion from the fact that we’re being asked as a country to vote yes for reconciliation though constitutional recognition”

It’s constitutional recognition that is important here, being enshrined in the constitution means that Aboriginal affairs do not continue to be a political football. Aboriginal’s get a voice on issues that affect them. It is “advice to parliament and after all it is advice, it can be listened to but it does not need to be heeded”
