Earthwalk Day 1269 (14 July 2025), 12,645 km: Palomar Observatory
The big one
Walking a very similar route as yesterday. On monday the benefit is that there's almost no-one else. As of now we've seen more wild mammals than humans*
*one squirrel
It's a lovely day in Denmark. Not too warm and mostly with a light cloud cover.
Not a big fan of the random downpours but the sun afterwards dries everything quickly :-)

2) Marmalade Hoverfly (Episyrphus balteatus)

The 30-minute noticing workout via Austin Kleon [Shared]
Here is a slide from my friend Bill Keaggy’s TEDx talk, “How to Find Attention, Mindfulness, and Creativity in the Ordinary.”
After going through some of his own creative work — I highly recommend his books 50 Sad Chairs and Milk, Eggs, Vodka — and the work of others, Bill suggests a very simple 30-minute workout for everyone:
Walk around. Pay attention. Take pictures.

I know I mostly post waterviews but this was a really nice piece of forrest for walking in
Also, I'd like to propose "Piece of Forrest", or PoF for short, as the opposite of when you call someone a PoS...

Calling all Triangle Tooters (especially in Orange County, NC) who #walk, #bike, and #roll! If you encounter damage to a #greenway, #bikelane, #sidewalk, or ADA infrastructure, please report it at https://go.unc.edu/chantalbikeped!
Disaster response efforts tend to miss these sorts of problems, but we know how critical they are to our ability to recover from major events like TS #Chantal.
Reporting damages not only helps local governments understand how to prioritize their recovery resources...
Park walking.
Walk in the park and then dinosaurs!
I make it back to the start just in time to grab a magnum form the cafe as it shuts.
That was the walk.
Delightful. Hot. Lush.
I make it to Sharps tor where I am actually quite exhausted and glad of the National Trust Brownie I bought earlier and pocketed. Its now so.hot I can only admire the view for a few seconds before getting back into the shade.
Onwards. Its a steep climb up hunters path to the top of the valley. And OH. MY. GOD. The HUMIDITY.
4pm and suddenly its like a suana!
Finally the path comes out at fingle bridge.
Bonus. There's a pub. Swift half in the sun it is.
Probably the ghost of a water witch lives here.
