What were the MS-DOS programs that the moricons.dll icons were intended for?

Last time, we looked at the legacy icons in progman.exe. But what about moricons.dll?

Here’s a table of the icons that were present in the original Windows 3.1 moricons.dll file (in file order) and the programs that Windows used the icons for. As with the icons in progman.exe, these

Maybe you or somebody you know has a #Windows10 computer, which works perfectly fine, but will lose support on October 14 because it cannot be updated to Windows 11 for hardware support reasons.

Please, do not turn the computer into unnecessary e-waste but keep using it and give it a new life by installing #Linux on it. There are plenty of advantages in doing so, the biggest one being it's waaaayyy cheaper.

Does anyone here know of any software for Linux or Windows (preferably Linux due to the graphics limitations of VirtualBox) that can automatically mask out many people from a video?

I want to be able to mask (censor) out all the people in my GoPro videos because of GDPR in the EU. I don't want big squares that move, but mark out the body with clothes, so that you can still see the body movements.

It is so obvious that the forced stoppage of support for #Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 has everything to do with forcing people to buy new hardware, and nothing with the technical possibilities of #Microsoft to produce a good working operating system that works on a wide scale of different performing hardware.

I have a still well functioning laptop that will soon have an OS that is not supported anymore. This is truly ridiculous and renders good functioning laptop useless. Yes I know I can put #Linux on it, and I will. But it is for work-purposes a step back as the stability and availability of software is different.

It has all the vibes of cartelisation, central software/OS-producers with hardware industry, pushing people to buy new hardware.

#Capitalism destroys the environment and forces us to use the resources of our #planet in an inefficient and destructive manner. We need a fundamentally different economy and tech-sector. Here is a draft for a couple of pillars of such a tech-sector: kolektiva.social/@LibSpring/11

The path from using the #Windows operating system to using #Linux is unnecessarily steep.

Today after years of just soldiering-on-through I opened Preferences in my #FileManager which is of the #Thunar species and ticked a box which has me shown Date+Time.

Putting out a Linux version ("distro" is what folk call them), which claims to be new user friendly, but starts off with a non-standard date stamp that is a barrier to folk coming over from Windows, shows a basic misunderstanding.

I find it difficult to grasp how dangerous the reliance on huge #corporations and #proprietarysoftware is until I hear something like this:

The chief prosecutor of the #ICC (International Criminal Court) has lost access to his #Microsoft email account due to a #Trump ruling.

#opensource is the most reliable way of setting up critical #technology and, personally, I am finally convinced to #switchtolinux from #Windows.
