2024: the year bisexual sitting finally caught up with me

basically this

@BayesForDays but microsoft excel is a video game, it has an esports world championship and everything

@Rairii @BayesForDays nothing gives that sweet dopamine hit like an overly complex Excel workbook.

@BayesForDays
Politicians noted the mass shooter was an email addict and spent 10 hour days in meetings and crafting Microsoft Outlook work emails.

@CheapPontoon
@BayesForDays there are no accidents only dangerous conditions

@BayesForDays the key difference here is doing excel for 8 hours makes money for corporations, while playing video games for three hours does not.

@mshiltonj @BayesForDays Think about how much more money you could make, if you wouldn't waste your time with Excel. 😜

@mshiltonj Where do you think the money goes that people spend on video games? @BayesForDays

@MBrandtner @BayesForDays they make money when people BUY video games, not PLAY video games. They don't want you to play the game, they want you buy the next game.

@viktorTheBoar @mshiltonj @MBrandtner @BayesForDays To be fair, there was a time where "Buy the video game" and "Play the video game" were strongly enforced in correlation, so there wasn't any concern about the difference.

Granted, this is the age of the Arcade Cabinet Machine gaming, but still...

@BayesForDays As a game tester working 8 hours shifts, I would like The Spectator Index to sent the results of their studies to my boss!!

@kingu @BayesForDays
No you wouldnt

Boss would say "OK now for each 1h session of testing you have 3h session of filling your data into excel"

@BayesForDays hm when you put your arm in a bandage and the mousepad on the seat and the keyboard on your legs and put your legs up and not in a sitting position all the time, it works. ^^

@BayesForDays I'd like to note that if you do ask and research fairly sendentary professions (like translators for exemple) directly you do see a lot of "this is a problem", especially since the addition of the internet which made those jobs even more sedentary.

@BayesForDays@lingo.lol I don't really know how I don't have such problems. I can only think there is maybe a genetic component and I'm lucky (so far).

@BayesForDays that not really true as with excel by total despear you will frequently put your head in your hands, watch the ceiling with your eyes closed or shake your head from right to left.
All this movements helps your muscles neck 😁

@sch00b @BayesForDays Moreover, the 'Excel' job tends to be well-paid, often in conjunction with PowerPoint for frequent, useless, never-ending meetings. As a result, you'll be forced to socialize and won't be tempted to think about code or pursue a career as a programmer, which would be more akin to a game-changing experience, but worse for your neck health.

@sch00b @BayesForDays You're not dealing with this month's onslaught of people playing Eddy Gordo in Tekken 8, clearly!

@BayesForDays @threedaymonk oh come *on* I just downloaded Fallout 4 PS5 and I have 8 hours of Excel to do first

@BayesForDays damn... what if i play Excel like video games? ;-)

@BayesForDays if the video game is #x4foundations though you get the best of both worlds 🤓

Excel in space, basically.

@BayesForDays As someone who does Excel quite a lot... No. Definitely causes me wrist pain.

There's a reason it's illegal in the USA to work for more 6 hours without a half-hour lunch break. "Six to six" was what the first (and only) general strike in the USA accomplished back in 1835, limiting the hours of workers to less than 24/7 and guaranteeing breaks. And only a large amount of people had to be shot to death by your employer to get that granted. So if you're worked for 8 hours straight without a meal break, that's very illegal, and you can report your company to the government who might even take action against them, and you'll be laid off immediately of course.

...

Or you could get together with your coworkers to form a union that can get somewhat shielded from strategic layoffs, except your bosses are still in control, so they'll have the power to spy on you, bribe snitches, and try to catch you unionizing, then immediately lay you off, or shoot you. Orrr you could do something other than capitalism. Then they'll definitely shoot at you, but you won't be held down to make it easy for them to aim.

@BayesForDays

Well, other difference of switching to Excel is that you get (hopefully) a paycheck. ;)

@BayesForDays happy to hear microsoft excel isn't affected, as it's my favorite video game

@BayesForDays Me, playing Satisfactory, and doing both at same time...

@BayesForDays Four out of pediatricians recommend Pall Mall cigarettes while swilling Popov vodka and shaming you about that one joint a week you smoke.

@BayesForDays I had a bunch of tests done and had to go to a neurologist because my right leg was regularly going numb and my reflexes in that leg were significantly slower... turns out it was just too much bisexual sitting. 😔

@BayesForDays Saw this and wondered what bisexual sitting was, looked it up, and found out it’s the name for the criterion by which I chose my armchairs. 😁 And yep: totally tracks!

@BayesForDays oh hey, samesies.
Gotta work on my bisexual spine now.
