bbbourq<p>Today&#39;s Metal Assault:</p><p>Band: Whitechapel from Knoxville, Tennessee, USA<br />Track: Hate Cult Ritual<br />Album: Hymns in Dissonance<br />Released: March 2025 (Metal Blade)</p><p>This track is brutal, fast, and aggressive. The production is just so good and every member puts their all into their music. It touches on their roots and this is the only track in this album with drop A tuning, which they used in their first three albums.</p><p><a href="https://youtu.be/QfHGEOA90PU?si=wB1Pq7HUh9dVnvQu" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">youtu.be/QfHGEOA90PU?si=wB1Pq7</span><span class="invisible">HUh9dVnvQu</span></a></p><p><a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/deathmetal" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>deathmetal</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/music" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>music</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/whitechapel" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>whitechapel</span></a></p>

bbbourq<p>For anyone into the &quot;old school&quot; <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/deathmetal" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>deathmetal</span></a>, no collection would be complete without <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/Immolation" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Immolation</span></a>, <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/Suffocation" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Suffocation</span></a>, and <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/Mortician" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Mortician</span></a>, all from New York. </p><p>I just listened to Suffocation&#39;s most recent album, &quot;Hymns from the Apocrypha.&quot; It is phenomenal. This is a great listen and the message emanating from the album is deep. The production is superb and all of the members pushed themselves<br />to the limit. These legends have been around since the beginning.</p><p><a href="https://youtu.be/sgO6vl_vzhM" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">youtu.be/sgO6vl_vzhM</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/music" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>music</span></a></p>
bbbourq<p>I found an amazing bookshop in <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/Honolulu" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Honolulu</span></a> called &quot;Skull Face Books &amp; Vinyl.&quot; I bought the book &quot;Swedish Death Metal&quot; by Daniel Ekeroth from there. It&#39;s really neat to read about how the <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/deathmetal" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>deathmetal</span></a> scene developed in the late 1980s. I remember my path into the genre, and it&#39;s neat to know that some of my all time favorite bands includes many from the original movement like Dan Swanö and LG Petrov (RIP). And now re-listening to these ground-breaking bands through this lens is so eye-opening.</p>
bbbourq<p>Today&#39;s Listening Gem:</p><p>Band: The County Medical Examiners<br />Genre: <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/Goregrind" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Goregrind</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/deathmetal" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>deathmetal</span></a><br />Album: Olidous Operettas<br />Released: 2007 (Relapse)</p><p>The lineup is unique because they&#39;re all pathologists. Since they did not want their music in any way to affect their profession or field, their true names were not used. Instead they used the formula: middle name + mother&#39;s maiden name. It&#39;s a fun listen. Much of their topics cover death and decay.</p><p><a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/music" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>music</span></a></p>
bbbourq<p>Track of the Day:</p><p>&quot;By Your Bedside&quot; by <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/Vehemence" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Vehemence</span></a> from their album _Helping the World to See_</p><p>Released: 2004<br />Genre: Melodic Death Metal<br />From: Phoenix, Arizona USA</p><p>This was the track that introduced me to this band. This was one of the inspirations for my own style of drumming. It has great blast beats and tempo changes. The vocals are deep with good screams.</p><p><a href="https://youtu.be/JTZJdbh-39k" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">youtu.be/JTZJdbh-39k</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/deathmetal" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>deathmetal</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/music" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>music</span></a></p>
bbbourq<p>Today&#39;s album:</p><p>_Informis Infinitas Inhumanitas_ by Origin. Released mid 2002.</p><p>I had the opportunity to see them live in 2005 with Decrepit Birth, Odious Mortem, and Sol Asunder in Santa Cruz, CA. I met all of the band members since the venue was so small. It was such a great show. Origin is a blend of speed metal and death metal, with a sprinkle of melodic riffs.</p><p><a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/deathmetal" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>deathmetal</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/music" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>music</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/origin" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>origin</span></a></p>
bbbourq<p>Today&#39;s album:</p><p>_Heartwork_ by Carcass; released in 1993. Another staple in old school death metal. bbbourq<p>I am currently listening to the album _Diabolical Summoning_ by Sinister (Netherlands)—released in 1993. bbbourq<p>To maintain my sanity, you will see mostly posts about death metal and conlangs from me. This is my safe space.</p><p>Death metal is my main outlet. It was what saved me at one of my lowest points in life. In fact, it inspired me to become an extreme metal drummer.</p><p>My other outlet is conlanging and/or calligraphy. I hope to showcase both more frequently.</p><p>(many of us extreme metal musicians are nerds)</p><p>Thanks for accepting me. 🤘</p><p><a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/mood" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mood</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/conlang" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>conlang</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/deathmetal" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>deathmetal</span></a></p>
bbbourq<p>I just listened to _Survival of the Sickest_ by Bloodbath—released in 2022. Hands down Bloodbath has become one of my all-time favorite death metal bands. They stay true to old school Swedish death metal and keep it relevant today. I&#39;m also floored that Barney Greenway of Napalm Death did guest vocals on one of the tracks. It was indeed a pleasant surprise. I highly recommend it if you like this genre.</p><p><a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/deathmetal" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>deathmetal</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/bloodbath" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>bloodbath</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/music" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>music</span></a></p>
