Oblivion menaces every scrap of #information that doesn’t spark joy in the Oval Office. “It’s gone,” #Trump said of “wokeness,” during his address to Congress, in almost motherly tones. “And we feel so much better for it, don’t we? Don’t we feel better?” But on this front, at least, Trump is facing well-organized resistance.
By now you have all read about what is going on w/ #Trump’s #Defense Dept’s anti-#DEI initiative, in which nefarious policies are birthing hilarious results. Namely, as the Associated Press reported last week, somebody at the #Pentagon produced a database flagging images depicting #diversity, #equity & #inclusion. And some dutiful search-&-replace function suggested that #military websites should jettison images of the #EnolaGay. Because, Enola “Gay.”

In the late 1930s, a young man named Paul Tibbets decided he wanted to fly airplanes for the US Army, which his…father disapproved of but his mother encouraged—“Paul, if you want to go fly airplanes, you’re going to be all right,”…& yrs later, when he piloted the drop of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima that ushered in the horrible end of WWII, he did so in a plane he named after his…mom: #EnolaGay.
