Helllo, I have a #MastodonHowTo Etiquette question : Sometimes I really like a post, and I boost it. But I also realize that in the post are some hashtags missing , which would give it a much larger impact, making it more easily found etc.
What is the polite thing to do ? Write a reply that only contains the missing hashtags ? Paraphrase the post in the reply and add the hashtags ? Or is adding new hashtags not the polite thing to do ? Anybody any thoughts ?
PS: did I use the correct hashtag ?

How to find conversations here?
- choose a keyword that stands for an area of interest - for example "joy" or "emissions" or "whiteness"
- look for it from the top box or click: #joy #emissions #whiteness
There are two effective ways of participating in a discussion topic: #groups and #hashtags.
For example, choose your <topic> and type <topic> in the search box at the top of your screen. Then:
- "Profiles": spot one ending in "@a.gup.pe" then on the right push "Follow";
- "Hashtags": spot an item and then in the top right-hand corner "Follow the hashtag".
You may enter a peculiar discussion below, if it piques you:

#SpotAndDiscard [… what distracts from autonomy]
#institutionsDeceive
#judicialBias
#unitary
#fragility
#proZionism [support, allies]
#israelism [foreigners raised to unconditionally love Israel]
#JewishState [citizenship]
If anyone needs to switch instances, this step by step how-to lets you switch and maintain as much of your info as possible. (Follows, bookmarks, blocks, etc.) Very helpful!
I just noticed that all my followed hashtags didn't transfer over, so be sure to follow all those again.
Is there an effective way to thread posts on Mastodon? In my feed I see posts. Many are from the same author, replying to their own post, in a cascading series. Is there a setting I can use to put all of these posts and replies in line? As opposed to saying them randomly in my feed?
Yes. If you go to the settings page under appearance here:

You will see something called "Slow Mode." This will make the timeline stop updating so fast. It's very annoying.
Is the app beeping a lot? That's the other one that tends to drive people nuts...
I was wondering if that notes field was for sending a PM. But this is also very useful! #mastodonhelp, #mastodonquestions, #mastodonhowto
Here's what I do. See if it works the same, if not let me know.
I've been creeping around looking at a lot of people's accounts (I'm doing a survey) Noticed that people with very few followers have one thing in common: they have not boosted the posts of other people often if at all.
(When I see posts like this encouraging boosting I always think "well that person just wants boosts, whatever") That's not it. On twitter it was important to only boost exceptional content -- boost here to invite more people to join in talking about something. #mastodonhowto
Is there a place I can find my likes? Was trying to find a post/toot I liked and couldn't figure it out. #MastodonHowTo
What's other people's concept for getting the following two different things from the fediverse at the same time?
1. A 'personal' timeline .. with no more than a certain limit of say 10 toots/hour .. made up of toots from _carefully_ picked followed people.
2. An additional 'news' timeline .. with maybe even more than 60 toots/hour .. filled with toots from followed news media bots or other less carefully picked high frequency accounts.
I'd like to have both without using separate accounts.
Any ideas?
