My baby boy and best friend Hobie. He is Golden retriever/GSD/Blue Heeler mix and a year old. I got him when we were homeless on the streets last year for a few months from a bad person when he was 10 weeks old. We've been together ever since. Highs and lows.

10 years ago, we had a wonderful foster named Hunter. He was severely emaciated, practically hairless due to demodex mange and had zero training. He went on to adopt a young boy named Owen and lived another 9 years with this family.

"Hunter is teaching us. He has taken to standing over Micky, which leads to some rather rough play on Hunters part (poor Micky!) So we have not been allowing it--zero. Today he tried a couple times. We tried a much less loud approach, leading him off by the collar, and having him sit next to Micky. Both times he did fine. The third time was here, as Micky was in the couch. All I said was "Hunter, off." He got down, then got up next to his friend in the sunny spot. Hunter needs calm, consistent, teachable moments.

Franklin cannot straighten his front legs---his elbows are fused--a birth defect. He was dumped by a dirt roadside in rural GA. He gets around just fine and can even run, a little, like me.

An actual 'touching moment' between Franklin and his rescuer, Kathy, my wife.

Some might recall he was drooped on a rural southern road at 4 months old, with his wonky front legs (his elbows are fused, cannot bend.)

While it's true he has given us some issues, 90% of them were carelessness/ignorance of his psyche at the moment. He came to us at 5 months, and will be 5 next spring.

Smeagol with his pride and joy, an 8 pound dumbell he got fir Christmas, 2023. We had put it up as he and a housemate managed to nibble off the rubber coating. Guess we didn't put it away high enough. He got it down off a shelf and was SO happy.

I'll watch him to make sure he doesn't eat any rubber, which he will do. We have money set aside for surgery for this boy--he's a chewer and eater.
