You mention subscriptions: if you've not already connected, linking this to @Jeremiah who is doing a lot of work atm around the fediverse and #WebMonitization, the best(/only?) cross-browser protocol for decentralised subscriptions: https://community.interledger.org/jeremiahlee/web-monetization-in-the-fediverse-ilf-grant-progress-report-1-37c7. Sadly the only WebMon service, Coil.com, stopped this year but I think the backers Interledger see this as a long-game.

There was even a PeerTube plugin (https://github.com/samlich/peertube-plugin-web-monetization) that briefly paid me real pennies per play!
