Classics librarian job: The University of Cincinnati Libraries seek to fill the position of Head of the John Miller Burnam Classics Library. The Head of the Classics Library provides services to the internationally recognized Classics Department, researchers, faculty, and students. The successful candidate for this tenure track position will continue to enhance the library’s reputation as a world-class, top-ranking research library for Classics scholars at UC and globally.

(On a personal note, I can vouch that this is one of the top Classics libraries in the US. It has an individual endowment that has enabled it to maintain a vigorous acquisition policy in an era of library funding cuts.)

I had the honour to be invited by @ZFAVClub to participate in an online live workshop exploring the mighty and wonderful CLI tool of the @internetarchive, in collaboration with @dweb 💕

If you are interested in data preservation and digital commons, please do watch it, as we did our best to shed some light on the most powerful yet little known features of this software.

The #InternetArchive is an invaluable resource for unlimited, public, open, and free storage for the whole Universe. It seems too good to be true, but it is!

We also touched upon the value of #FreeSoftware, #Linux, #decentralization, and #publicDomain.

Oh hey, it's #introduction post time again!

I've been knocking around these parts for a good while now but as my lovely pals @tiefling and @VulpineDruid very kindly let me and @therivercrow join in in this anarchic new server, I've jumped in with both feet!

I'm a #queer #witch (yes a real one, so I'll hex you if you cross me) and committed to #lgbtq rights and freedoms.

My day job is as a #librarian where I teach critical skills and other useful stuff.

I'm a #writer and currently writing #VampLibs, even though not much of it is public yet. You can read some of my shorts on my Writing Robin blog.

I sometimes write about #pagan things as well.

I game and am currently doing my third run of #DragonAgeVeilguard so if you come for me with your Marxist takes, I will throw my controller at your face.

I've been chronically online for my many years of life so I don't tolerate much nonsense and am very selective in my follow request acceptances. If you want to follow me, let's talk first ok? Cool.

New instance, new #Introduction post!

Here we go again...

I'm River, and I've booped around a few places here on the fediverse, currently hanging out with my friends @tiefling :diotima: and @VulpineDruid :vul: to chat about stuff and things.

I've been gaming since the heady days of OG #BaldursGate, and am currently obsessed with #BaldursGate3 and #DragonAge #TheVeilguard.

When I'm not gaming, I'm an academic #librarian, a practicing #witch and #Selunite, an occasional #writer and #poet and a general all-round nerdy type.

I'm also queer and trans, so I will post about #LGBTQ stuff, but I will content warn anything political.

You can find my blogging, fiction, poetry and stuff via the linktree in my bio.

#vintage #handwriting #history #question

I would love to see styles of antiquated handwriting, to model.
People used to be so good at writing, because writing by hand used to be important and meaningful.

I am probably most interested in examples from 11th to 17th century.
The sweet spot in the middle would be 14th century, but there were amazing examples all through this span!

So what I really would love is... access to resources that are hundreds of thousands of sorted images, or everything a specific scribe or writer ever did compiled cleanly in a high quality pdf,
and like hundreds of thousands of those.

Possibly entire digitised libraries of antiquated hand written books or papers from historical documents?

Can anyone point out some references like this that are high quality and expansive?

I am not against resources in multiple languages either. Handwriting is so cool.

Thank you!

edit: there may be collected letters, official historical documents from court systems in public facing collections, original scans of the books, notebooks, letters, and writings of scribes and authors that are long dead, which could suit my interests! If you have any leads, please let me know!
Especially scans from personal journals, notebooks, and manuscripts when possible!
