"I've been steadily growing Netlabel Day these past four years now," says Willey, "but there is still a lot more to accomplish.

"This year I've teamed up with the kind folks at Friends of Creative Commons and created Netlabel Week—because one day is not enough. Netlabel Week will feature concerts, streams, and panels on various topics. It's really 9.5 days, from 11–20 July, but if we can have 51 hours in a day for the Netlabel Day Radio broadcast, we can have 9.5 days in a week!"

#musicians, wondering if you would be interested in a free* introductory course on Statistics, Data Analysis & Machine Learning.

To be clear, we are NOT going to be talking about making music w/ AI. You don't need a math teacher w/ a decade+ of experience & a guy w/ an Information Science degree telling you how to make music.

If there are specifics you'd like to cover, lmk!

*released under CC BY-SA but also live Q&A session on Jitsi. open to all but targeted at musicians.

Saturday is the next @friendsofccmusic North America meeting but there will be some discussion that will likely determine some things for the global org, like how we deal with the regional orgs on the website.

If you aren't on the invite and would like to be, lmk.

We really need input from #musicians on where they want the org to go. if payment is a priority then that's going to rule out being a 501(c)(3). it's very important that we get this right.

#introduction post:

I’m a grad stats student, tinkering with coding projects and (co)-creating inclusive, diverse spaces wherever I can. I make #ambient music and diverse #electronica, mostly to focus or set intentions, often with my #modularsynth setup. I run two #netlabels, releasing intention-setting compilations and exploring timelessness through sound. Whenever I find the time, I try to bring diverse ideas to life in some form - as finished projects or experiments shared on my blog.

I used to be a DJ, mixing mostly electronic net music. It was a big thing 15-20 years ago. I had a website for it which I shut down years ago.

I now have now reactivated the site at inanace.net. Many of the netlabels from those days have disappeared, so the site is an archive of the music from those golden times. Have a look if you like and I'll see if the scene still exists! That's why I created this account.

I used to have a DJ alter ego who mixed mostly electronic net music. It was a big thing on the net 15-20 years ago. I had a website for it at inanace.de, which I shut down years ago.

But because it was such a formative time for me, I have now reactivated the site at inanace.net. Many of the netlabels from those days have disappeared, so the site is an archive of the music from those golden times. Have a look and I'll see if the scene still exists!

datafruits.fm is an internet radio station from the Seattle area that plays primarily music from netlabels. The homepage smells deliciously of neocities and you can adjust the theme between three color schemes. For some reason the GIF background is the scene from Transformers: the Movie where Prowl and some other Autobots are utterly decimated by Decepticons.

Anyone run a netlabel?... Or perhaps know of some netlabels or cassette labels present here on masto?

Lost touch with all of my contacts by leaving the otherplace, and just trying to build a little network, and reach out to people who might be interested in helping me get some #music released on physical formats...

Thanks in advance for any boots or replies!

Much Love!
