Day 11: All The Tropes

Sungkyunkwan Scandal (2010)

A classic. Joseon era drama set at Sungkyunkwan Univ., an all boys school. Cross-dressing, hidden identities, mistaken identity, reverse-harem, rich boys, poor girl, rich bully, corrupt officials, political schemes, family issues, secret love interest, 2nd male syndrome, girl is secretly protected, bromance. There's likely a piggy-back in there.

Add, a dashing Yoo Ah In, sassy Song Joong Ki.

51 episodes and I binged the last 20.
Spectacular costumes, intriguing plot, unexpected twists and acting with evil laughs, painful cries, severely injured but undying characters.
The character development is not trivial either, it's like 3 dramas in 1.
Sometimes there is an absurd turn of events that doesn't justify what comes next. I think they strayed too much from historical facts and decided to quickly fix some mistakes in the end.

All right. I've managed to complete my intermittent binge of 51-episode
The acting by and was stellar! Although the story was based on factual information, many liberties were taken with the details. Still, I couldn't look away and found the story to be very compelling.
The biggest stars of all were the costumes and jewellery! They were so visually stunning in every scene. It will be hard for me to return to monochrome Joseon dramas.

Hooked by despite dramas not being my thing.
I just can't stand the disregard for human life and their suffering.

Anyway the sublime makes even the most despicable and weakest emperor entertaining. It's the first time I see him in such a demeaning role and he can nail that one too.

is equally outstanding, looking forward to seeing more of her!

About ep 15: was football/soccer a thing in Goryeo?

Really enjoying JOSEON ATTORNEY. Most of the other people I know watching it (from the Kdrama Discord server) are doing so because they like Woo Do-hwan: I’m doing it because I like the concept of “procedural drama but make it a .”

The first three episodes are a little uneven but episode 4 is really a banger, and the dynamics between the leads (Woo Do-hwan and Bona) are great.
