I didn’t show y’all my James Holmes #tattoo!

James Holmes is a big name in the field of #Translation Studies, but he’s always presented as some stuffy theorist, never as the visible #queer he was! Learning about the real James Holmes legitimized my existence in the translation world as a whole, since many of my colleagues kept my non-binary queer self at arm’s length and questioned me daily.
There’s a marvelous article by Christopher Larkosh here about James Holmes, and I 100% mean it when I say this article changed my life. I wish I could thank them both for keeping translation queer (no need to “queer it,” it was always queer!) and for making space for people like me. A Larkosh tattoo is coming after the holidays, too

I shared this article in the previous toot, but it was the first time someone told me I was allowed to be queer in translation (and not only allowed, but told that #translation was always queer!) and he was just. So important.
