My mum led a nature ramble walk in the lake near our house today so I went over and joined them, and took my macro lens :)

If you are looking for something positive you can do right now for the #environment (that is also #antiFascist), because #ClimateChange and land use (habitat loss) are two sides of the same coin, find a 'Friends of _____' group and start to learn about #RestorationEcology. It's hard to see and interact with climate, but its very possible to develop relationships with the landscape, no matter where we live.
Restoration is a lovely, impactful way to build community around local natural spaces. The idea is to create and support (diverse) refuge areas that are resistant to human pressures. Patches of wilderness that can serve as a bridge between larger conservancies. Imagine a pit stop for #bees, #plants, #fungi, and #birds. Urban or rural. No matter how small. There are many approaches and no right one. It combines seamlessly with #NatureEducation and appreciation. Search for conservancies, natural areas, land trusts, state, county, or city parks. It doesnt have to be swanky: it can be the drainage way behind your neighborhood (the more local, the better).
There are also many many different roles to get involved in that can make it #accessible! Nature education and land use planning are severely under-utilized areas, as is citizen wildlife monitoring. You can grow plants for restoration in your garden or in your window. (Responsibly) collect native seed from areas of abundance and scatter it in bare places. If you dont know where to start, just learning plant names and their relationships is hugely rewarding, because you will start to see patterns in the landscape that will allow you to interpret and share with others (*chills*).
I know people are stretched really thin right now, but #nature is so restorative and #EcologicalRestoration connects me to my neighbors. It provides an easy platform for broader community organizing, which seems relevant right now. We aren't separate from nature: we are a part of it. It always gives back more than we put in
#bloomscrollling Have a wonderful time
Few more pics. When we moved in (2012) there was maybe half what we have now. I’ve just kept splitting and moving the clumps around, spreading them throughout the entire wooded area. Definitely need to do some more of that again. I keep saying I want to add more variety but I never get around to that. The wooded area used to be full of honeysuckle which I ripped out. (Please excuse the mossy yard, too much shade.)
Daffodils out back are also poppin’!
Right now we have the mini white ones and the white ones with the yellow center. The double “fluffy” peach ones and the standard yellow ones are all spent. I don’t see any of the mini yellow ones yet, which we also usually have. I think they bloom last.
It’s hard to see just how many we have— but there’s literally over 100 separate clumps back here (I counted twice and got 110 and 114 lol, it’s difficult to keep track).

For #spring, my little snowdrop. It glows softly (there's a light in the flower), but its glow is best seen at night. See the second pic for a bit of the glow.
I haven’t shared much about this piece yet - maybe because it’s a little different from my usual embroidery work. But I like how delicate it turned out.
another test piece. this time pure watercolor and fineliner. it works well too i'm just not that efficient with watercolor only.
if you look at it upside down the leaves transform into chanterelles.
got me some cold pressed 105 x 150mm sized postcards and did two spring themed test images.
the acrylic markers (base) + colored pencils (shading, accents) as in the snowdrop one works best so i'm pretty much going with those forward.
the magnolia one was at first watercolor + colored pencils but i changed my mind and redid the background with acrylic markers.
Something not music-related today! A couple of years ago I fell deeply in love with ceramics. I love shaping clay with my hands I love recycling and reusing it again and again. I love that I can shape it into almost every shape I can imagine and create art pieces for everyday use.
It is not a very accessible craft though since it requires a lot of space and some very expensive equipment - at least if you want to be making food-safe and watertight ceramics. So it took me a long time to get going and start creating the pots I imagined. My process is very slow and careful, sometimes it takes me months to finish a mug, bowl, palette or figurine. I am happy to have found a ceramic artist close to where I live who fires my work and happy to have a partner who is unbothered by the fact that I use our bathroom as a pottery studio sometimes, throwing wheel and all!
If you want to check out some of my creations, feel free to take a peek at my etsy shop: https://radiculacrafts.etsy.com
For now I want to present you with my new logo I designed, inspired by snowdrops, some actual snowdrops I spotted today and my most popular ceramic item: a small travel palette you can take on all your creative adventures
I'll be sharing more in the future, but am thinking about a separate pottery account for that, but maybe not? What do the more mastodon-savvy people among you you think?
