The #CHI2024 Late-Breaking Work page had a sustainability statement, which is missing on the #CHI2025 website. Does anyone know why? The text around it is a word-to-word copy otherwise.

Good example of AI assistance in writing that retains the author's agency: SciCapenter "generates a comprehensive checklist to assess caption quality across multiple critical aspects, such as helpfulness, OCR mention, key takeaways, and visual properties reference." #chi2024 https://dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/3613905.3650738
I've used Google's #NotebookLM to generate a podcast for our #CHI2024 paper on writer-defined AI personas. The result is quite impressive - have a listen here! Short analysis & links in the below.
"Thinking time [... ] is essential to designing experiments, compiling data, assessing results, reviewing literature and, of course, writing."
Yes and writing time can be thinking time. How can we design (AI) tools for more of that, not for faster writing?

The key point is: a lot of people are just too optimistic about AI ethics and safety right now. However, there is a ton of surface area for more contextualized, adaptive approaches! You can read our HEAL #CHI2024 paper on ArXiv: https://arxiv.org/abs/2406.03198 We hope you find it useful!

PhD student Utkarsh Dwivedi's research is a win-win: he and collaborators seek to advance children's AI literacies and align AI with children's values. #hcil2024

@BenjaminHan yes. It all started with a small "special interest group" of runners and quickly turned into a tradition but this years #chi2024 group run was huge

Congrats to Nouran Soliman on a fantastic talk on her best paper awarded work on meronimity (mitigating barriers to engaging in public conversations with partial, self-selected, and verified identity signals)! We also deployed a system for it right here in Mastodon at @LiTweeture a while back

Kind reminder: We'll gather today after the last paper session near the registration desk. The last paper session ends at 17:20 so we'll get a group photo then leave about 17:35 to give people time to gather. You can either wear your jogging kit or change in one of the bathrooms. With our group size, it wouldn't be bad for us to leave in waves. #chi2024 #running

@kjfeng and Lawrence gave a great talk at #chi2024! Also some really interesting questions from the audience the work brought up - questions of ease and simplicity vs agency tradeoffs, dealing with as-of-yet unknown or revealed preferences, implications for content moderation. https://arxiv.org/abs/2401.14000
