#TBT - A day after getting my chest ripped open and my left lung cut in half and taken out. A very large tumor nestled up against my aorta led to the emergency cancer surgery. I should have been on life support for a week but I immediately started breathing with half a lung and woke up to pain you can't possibly imagine. Cancer SUCKS!! 🖕🤬 Six months to live huh? Well, I'm still alive mFers....cheers!! ☕😋🤚

A #BloodTest Shows Promise for Early #ColonCancer Detection
Many patients reluctant to have #colonoscopies or fecal tests. #Doctors see potential in another screening method.
#Gastroenterologists say such tests could become part of routine blood work that doctors order when, for example, a person comes in for an annual physical. About 53,000 Americans expected to die from #colorectalcancer this year. It is second-most common cause of #cancer death

I'm not sure if I'd characterize what this patient experienced in her ordeal with cancer as gaslighting, I think it was incompetence and negligence. However this is so very typical of American health care which is allegedly the best in the world. Now that's what I call gaslighting - giving you subpar treatment and calling it the best in the world.

And mad chops to her for sharing her story. Living long and prosper!

Hey folks, are you at least 45 years old? Or are you younger with a family history of colon cancer? Get yourself screened. Rates have been rising in younger adults for years — likely due to a variety of interacting reasons we don't really understand — but early detection has *high* survival rates. My latest at Nat Geo.
