Here's the problem:

UPDATE: Thank you to everyone for your input. It's fixed now and all is well.

Last night l shut the computer off and went to bed. We had thunderstorms all night and the power went on and off more than once. Each time the power came back, the computer turned on by itself. How can it do that? I shut it down again the first time, but then went to sleep. This morning it was on again.

I put the pin number in and it said that pin access was disabled because of too many shutdowns, and I should leave the computer on for two hours and try again. I did that and got the same message.

My wife has an HP Windows 11 notebook computer about a year old. It appears that both USB ports have stopped working.

I've tested both ports by plugging in a full size keyboard, wireless mouse, and a USB powered desk light and none works.

Is there some setting I can work with to restore the ports? HP wants at least $40 to look into the issue on line.
