Is this just another ‘hate crime’ that the PSNI may or may not investigate eventually? Literally the second bonfire with calls to murder or burn people alive. This isn’t ‘culture’ or ‘tradition’ or ‘controversial art’. This is naked unabashed sectarianism and racism and can never be seen as anything else. That the #DUP and #TUV [Unionist and Loyalist] leaders are supporting those who go to court to prevent such hate being removed says everything about Loyalism, and those who wish to remain as part of the UK. Will the PM #Starmer, a former human rights lawyer express even the slightest discomfort about this? Or is he more comfortable with designating non-violent protest as ‘terrorism’.

So the court has bailed out of responsibility to make a decision.
The PSNI have bailed out of responsibility to protect those wanting to make the bonfire safe.
If the sub station burns down, and/or people get asbestosis and lung cancer that’s fine, ‘cos Loyalists lit this poisonous bonfire. And 🚮, the #DUP and #TUV think this is a positive thing for Unionists and Loyalists.
How much has this farce cost the taxpayers of NI already?
How much more will in cost in repairs should the substation be damaged, or should someone die in either hospital because the power is out?
How much will it cost in healthcare for those who develop living cancer?
How much will it cost in Fire Brigade attendance?
And this one is gloating along with his associates in the #DUP and #TUV
A shameful abdication of their responsibility to their entire community and to local business.
I have no faith in the court ruling against future bonfires what are dangerous, as this is at least the third time in recent years they have adjourned a decision, or ruled against controlling it to protect peoples lives.
Of one thing you can be sure - if anyone is injured at this, their family will be suing the Council for not protecting them, and they’ll probably win. 🤬

So the #DUP would prefer to keep a bonfire with an asbestos hazard and the liklihood of it damaging the electricity supply for the two major hospitals, than work to relocate it or keep people safe from a life-limiting cancer?
Good to know the #DUP look after the community so well.
Good luck to the PSNI and Belfast City Council in finding a contractor who will manage this at such short notice.
I would not be in the least surprised if it ‘accidentally’ went up in flames tonight.

The irony of all this being that William of Orange was a Dutchman with lots of Catholic relatives and links. So, technically an immigrant as well as being connected to a religion the Loyalists absolutely despise.
Surely the British government should prosecute these organisations as promoting terrorism, and for hate crimes.
They have proscribed at least one other non-violent organisation as terrorist, for a lot less.

Moygashel bonfire: Effigy of refugees in small boat 'deplorable', Sinn Féin says - BBC News bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cy4yge

The picture shows a model of a small boat with figures inside on top of a tall bonfire constructed mainly from pallets. Signs saying "Stop The Boats" and "Veterans Before Refugees" are on the bonfire.

@dermotryanie @Natasha_Jay Here’s a long statement made in Northern Ireland yesterday, about this. It has to go through the courts, as NI law is different from UK law. I won’t be able to #AltText this fully, but I’ll do as best I can. Amanda Ferguson is an independent journalist in Northern Ireland.
Of course the transphobic, homophobic #DUP & #TUV are already up in arms about this.
There’s no mention of the Good Friday Agreement or membership of the European Court of Human Rights, which is part of the GFA. Hmmmm

The Communities Minister Gordon Lyons, DUP MLA, seemingly only wishes to represent one community viewpoint. Jumping to the command of the loyalist blogger Jamie Bryson. Should Bryson lose this case, Bryson is going to be charged with the cost of the signage, and has already agreed to pay. He’s very confident he will not lose. If there’s any #Karma in NI Courts at all, it’s well past time he lost and paid up.

🤣 JD Vance is only Vance because his mother changed his name three times. His father has a completely different name (Bowman) , and his name was changed to suit another marriage then changed again to his mother’s family name when his grandparents took care of him. His genealogical connection to Coagh is dodgy. A DUP MLA presented him with a book [researched at taxpayers expense] which proved to be inconclusive because there’s a big gap. #JDVance #DUP #Lies EDIT. Here’s a screenshot of the Wikipedia page. His original surname is Bowman, after his biological father.

Two Northern Ireland polliticians - one a UUP lord and the other the DUP mysogynistic bellend [Sammy Wilson MP] an associate of former DUP MP Ian Paisley Jnr are involved in this. The other three are Conservative party people. Paisley Jnr was known as the MP for Sri Lanka and the Maldives. He took several paid for holidays in both and raised questions on their behalf in House of Commons, and suspended for a record number of days. He unexpectedly lost his parliamentary seat at the General Election.

Wow! Now that is something I did not see coming, even though I never thought he was a good party leader. Clare Hanna MP or Matthew O’Toole MLA are excellent, and seeing Hanna take on this role is wonderful. Hopefully she will revive the #SDLP fortunes. With #DUP leader Donaldson resigning under a cloud of historical sexual offences accusations, earlier this year, and his deputy Gavin Robinson MP taking over: Doug Beattie of the #UUP resigning about a week ago, and former leader Mike Nesbitt MLA & Health Minister taking up as leader again that’s a lot of leadership changes in NI political parties in about six months. belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/no

Edwin Poots:

"Unionists 'need to reach out’ to other communities"

For the former leader of a political party 'solely' motivated by sectarian identity politics and the demeaning and othering of other communities this is a very strange thing to say.

As well all or the vast majority of the racist attacks against other communities in NI recently have been carried out by his people.

So how does that work out? 🤔

No Paisley in Nothing Ireland politics for the first time since 1970.

That is seismic and transformational. Plus the #DUP have went from eight to five seats. Bad night for #Unionism.

No Allister in #Stormont - should work slighty better with him out of the way!

No Paisley in #Westminster - the expenses system breathes a sigh of relief!

Unfortunately, Allister is now in #Westminster Sorry lads in the House of Commons - you have to suffer him now too.

#DUP Paisley Jr lost his seat his family held since 1970
Farage elected MP at 8th attempt, and Reform (formerly known as brexit party won four seats as of now - same number as the Green party stands currently
Corbyn re-elected as independent, Galloway gone

Stolen from the other place - but it is too good not to toot & share. Well said Gary Neville (even though you're Man U)

Remember this when you are voting tomorrow. #NI remember this is the party that the #DUP helped prop up!

They are not in this for our benefit!

Get them out...as many as possible! #ge2024
