it took me several check outs from the library to get through this, but it is one of the most interesting, depressing & dense books I’ve ever listened to & am a better person for listening to it altho

After reading/skimming the peer reviewed #CovidPapers all of 2022 & noticing #acceleratedAging all around me for the past year, learning about #dementia was my goal for 2023 & boy did #TiaPowell #DementiaReimagined deliver
Having never known about it, what I can say is, you definitely do not want this; it makes #cancer look like a

Book was published in 2019 when there were 75 million #babyBoomers were approaching the prime dementia ages where 30-50% will have it by age 85. Post Covid tho, that number has risen %-wise & age of onset lowered by DECADES
Symptoms aren’t straight forward b/c it’s not merely the stereotypical memory loss & I realized one of my building neighbors had been suffering from it for at least 15 years after listening to all the presentations of different types. There are 7 stages & you could probably hide the fact you have it w/out too much difficulty #brainFog
There is no cure & the “recommendations of prevention” are honestly… useless if you don’t remember the first rule; DO NOT GET COVID/viruses or minimize the amount of times you do & certainly don’t breathe air arbitrarily

Never thought about dementia b/c it didn’t run in my family but after 2 full infections, now I worry just a bit. Ok.. I’m a fatalist hypochondriac so perhaps slightly more than a “bit” but medical paranoia has been generally my friend, so I’ll continue being paranoid
The stories are harrowing but this book is definitely what I needed to know b/c mental decline will only be ever increasing all around as more time goes by
