So... I've recently discovered #BonkWave... yet a new Fediverse *thing*. I've read to the bottom of the hashtag, and Im listening to every BonkWave album on #Bandcamp. Im not sure Im closer to finding what it IS.
Is it #chiptune? Is it #glitchcore? Is it just what us old timers would call good old fashioned #techno? I dunno. I can't find any definitive article that *defines* it.
Likely that's not required.

Glitch Monalia
Databending of the Mona Lisa. I did this for a context on DeviantArt last year.
Geothermal Mining
Databending of an AI-generated image. I told the AI to generate cubist paintings, because I've found that type of artwork to be particularly well-suited for databending and achieving the glitchcore aesthetic.
Raphael Glitch
Databending of The Triumph of Galatea by Raphael. Post-processed in GIMP.
Edge Noise
This is the product of databending, edge detect, and color manipulation. Databending was done in GVim, post-processing in GIMP.
Glitch Birds
Made by databending a photo I took of pigeons on the beach. Post-processing done in GIMP.
Swan Glitch
Made this by separating out the RGB channels and pixelating different regions. I also obviously copied and pasted the swan to get the two "ghost" images, and I applied the Softglow filter to them.
Codex
Databent and edge-detected photograph that ended up looking like a bunch of strange glyphs - maybe from aliens or from an ancient civilization.
Glitch Portrait
This image is the combined result of databending, edge detect, and progressive hue adjustment over a feathered selection. The base image was taken from the ThisPersonDoesNotExist AI. All post-processing of the databent image was done in GIMP. I think it has a nice retrowave look.
Vermeer Glitch
Just a glitch manipulation I did in GIMP, where I used filters to somewhat emulate the appearance of pixel sorting.
