"US Bankruptcy Judge Christopher Lopez essentially told families who backed @theonion deal that they couldn’t have the deal they wanted. Instead, they may be forced to accept Jones’s weird and complicated sham deal where he gets to sell to a friendly party he’s already affiliated with, one that almost certainly would allow Jones to continue operating #Infowars."

Public Notice · A toxic brew of money and threats is perverting the courtsBy Lisa Needham

Y’all, all sorts of whit has gone wrong this morning. A trump appointed judge overruled #TheOnion getting #Infowars. Because some right wing media millionaires want to buy it and give it back to Alex Jones. [aljazeera.com/amp/news/2024/12]

And if that weren’t bad enough, I have utterly failed in a cookie experiment. I was trying to come up with a GenX specific taste profile, and I thought…Space Race! I’ll use Tang! Y’all, tang does not make good cookies, no matter what that 1969 state fair cookbook says.

"Part of the company’s plan for Infowars was to make anti-violence organization Everytown for Gun Safety the exclusive advertiser."

Judge: Overruled ... "not enough money" ... Alex no like

*sigh*

So basically the offers for these toxic assets were too low to offset the debts significantly. So he either has to raise this capital himself, or live with it.

NBC News · Bankruptcy judge rejects The Onion’s bid to buy Alex Jones’ InfowarsBy David Ingram

A bankruptcy judge has rejected The Onion's bid to buy Alex Jones' Infowars site, ruling that the auction process was unfair. "I don't think it's enough money," Judge Christopher Lopez said after a two-day hearing. "I'm not going to approve the sale." It was not immediately clear whether there will be a new auction in which The Onion can participate. Here's more from @NBCNews.

Elon Musk Says He Owns Everyone’s Twitter Account in Bizarre Alex Jones Court Filing

X’s legal filing argues that all of the social media accounts in the auction can’t be transferred. X insists it wasn’t claiming ownership of the content in the accounts, and is only saying it controls the accounts themselves.

Gizmodo · Elon Musk Says He Owns Everyone's Twitter Account in Bizarre Alex Jones Court FilingMusk's X is trying to stop The Onion from buying Alex Jones' social media accounts.

Who owns your social media accounts? If you're on X, Elon Musk argues that it's the platform. In an objection filed on Monday, lawyers argued that its terms of service (TOS) prevent former Infowars owner Alex Jones' accounts from being sold off without X's approval. Jones' assets are being liquidated to pay the families of Sandy Hook victims after they won a defamation case against him. Satirical site The Onion purchased Infowars with social media accounts forming part of the deal. X's team wrote in Monday's objection: “The Trustee now seeks to contravene X Corp.’s TOS by improperly selling or otherwise transferring the X Accounts (which neither Jones nor his bankruptcy estate own) to a third party." Here's more from @TheHill.
