Rapidly moving my meshtastic nodes over to meshcore 🤘🏿

Going very smoothly so far. Meshcore is notably very fast at message delivery and delivery confirmations back to the sender.

Thinking I'll leave my primary meshtastic infrastructure nodes up and build meshcore nodes to deploy next to them so as the network matures I can do head to head comparisons.

in my enthusiasm for trying out a more recent firmware for my #lilyGo #tdeck and #meshtastic with the new UI cuz people are shipping them with it installed on Etsy now.

i did a setup of vscode and platform IO and then my workstation whooshed to life and now i don't know what it was doing and how i can compile from the source myself to avoid contributing to the problem of links to old artifacts and meshtastic committers giving me dagger-eyes 🙈

yes it bugged out in the end, cry about it (my pc stopped sending process information and i didn't decouple that yet so the dvd screensaver could still activate :D)

any suggestions, ignoring the dvd screensaver mid-scroller?

If you're in or around #Denton and interested in getting involved with our #Meshtastic solar-powered radio network, we are offering basic devices (Heltec V3s and LilyGo T3-S3s) at a "pay what you can" price to get as many folks on the network as would like to be!

Please join us on our Matrix server to get in touch and chat with us! We recommended using the Element client to join us there; for those unfamiliar, it's a bit like Discord except it's all encrypted & decentralized and has built-in encrypted video and voice! matrix.to/#/#denton-mesh:matri

finally got some time set aside to get my T-Dongle S3 set up to expose its microSD card filesystem over USB while also setting up a softAP for wifi connectivity.

that's all working, so my next step will be to set up another esp32-based device to connect to the softAP of the T-Dongle, and then I'll set up some light RPC to allow the client esp32 to also expose the T-Dongle's microSD card filesystem over USB so we can fling bits through the air to our laser cutter without having to sneakernet USB keys over to it to cut things.

I got that lilygo t-embed panel from aliexpress! It comes already programmed with a basic menu! the encoder sucks, super slippery. It's basically the same size though and the display is much better to read than the tiny display on the ESP-C3 board. I paid 29€ but it normally costs around 42€.
