His voice broke as he described how unreal the past year had seemed -- that he felt like even the olive tree was perhaps not real. It was heartbreaking. Trauma from #Genocide and #War are real!

I know it's been all olives for me lately, but when you spend several weeks surrounded by olive groves, still cultivated or abandoned, sometimes already overgrown, you see more and more beauty in every single tree...

Closeup of an old olive tree that has a big hole where many years ago a side branch has been cut off.

Combined with the other holes and marks on the bark it looks a little bit like a very old face that has seen a lot over its time (which it probably has).
