A suburb of Phoenix is not where one might expect to see a residential development based on emancipation from the dominion of the car.

Reducing car dependency in Arizona matters beyond the borders of the state. All too often those working for more human and environmentally sound planning and transit policies in the USA are met with a simplistic and thought stopping cry of "It might work in Europe, but our geography makes it impossible!"

#MorningAll. The horrors persist, but so shall I.

After a terrible night’s sleep, I’m up and prepping for our trek to the #TeslaTakedown #protest at the Swasticar service center in #Tempe #today. We’re biking down (~22 km), and I have my protest sign strapped to the back of my #ebike. Wish me luck!

And if you haven’t yet joined in a local protest, I highly recommend it. Taking action feels very good and compliments your “WTF??” social postings quite nicely.

I attended a Bernie Sanders rally with AOC at #asu. It was quite underwhelming. Bernie has not shifted his position on the reformism of the Democrats, at least at the event. He'll probably pass the torch down to AOC, but this will fail for a variety of reasons. AOC does have the same populist appeal as Sanders and has capitulated to the right wing of the Democrats repeatedly, so she can only succeed in her deep blue gerrymandered district.

Local news nothing online. Social media for largest news AZ Central shared good video on Threads but I won’t link here to Threads. We picked up estimate 15k capacity in stadium, 5k capacity overflow area AND thousands outside who never made it in. Bernie and AOC came all the way outside to speak afterwards to remaining crowd. I am still betting all local news will downplay it and those videos on Threads won’t be published online tomorrow. I am sure my guess was pretty good - 15k to 20k or more.

No idea what happened to a post I had this morning, but in recognition of St. Patrick's Day, I have a sign from an Irish pub @ grill to share, Collins. I didn't get to go there and it was good to know that sometime when I get up there next to Flagstaff, I will try it out. I dearly miss "my" Rúla Búla Irish restaurant I went to for over 20 years, Tempe Arizona. It closed and I'll never see the likes of it again. Every St. Patrick's Day, I and my brothers and sisters would each get our own limerick written for us by my full Irish grandfather. It was very special and I still have some saved to this day! I recorded audio at the #TeslaTakedown #protest in #Phoenix ( #Tempe) #today.

No interviews. Just the sound of the event, honking & cheering, and a few conversations.

Next time I’ll wear my PODCASTER T-shirt from Libsyn. I declared myself as a non-media person before shoving the shotgun mic in to a conversation, which put everyone at ease.

Not sure what I’ll do with the audio, but I’ll edit it down to compelling conversations and some of the crowd noise first.
