"New Year's Day" is a song by Irish #rock band #U2. It is the third track on their 1983 album #War and was released as the album's #leadSingle in January 1983. With lyrics written about the Polish #Solidarity movement, "New Year's Day" is driven by #AdamClayton's distinctive bassline and #theEdge's piano and guitar playing. It was the band's first UK hit single, peaking at number 10, and was also their first international hit, reaching for number 9 in Norway.

World Party Live in Cheap Street Frome on World Record Store Day 20/4/2013

I'm remembering DFW radio legend George Gimarc recommending this album back in the day. He was swooning over all the classic rock references in it. Beach Boys' harmonies are all over this one.

“The interview [#LarryMullenJr] gave for this story was, he said, his first in seven years. He’s blunt — he says if [#U2] plays live in 2023 it will probably be without him, as he needs surgery to continue playing — and admits the dynamics in the band are not the same as they were decades ago.” #WashingtonPost: washingtonpost.com/arts-entert #Bono #TheEdge #AdamClayton #music
