For all who like to see my #scrollBook project in progress, I start a thread for new photos.
The idea: Having art small enough for a handbag or hanged on a wall. 'Writing' a #book that can't get copied by AI or people - but can be inspiring for others.
Materials: A vintage wooden bobbin, tea-dyed coton flannel, #teaBags, #sareeSilk scraps, #lace, #embroidery, glass rocailles.

Part of my scrollbook with a needle and yellowish green thread. On a background of bright purple flannel a collage of small white lace, a square of a used teabag and scraps of saree silk. The spuares and rectangles are laid in a collage composition and get fixed with wild, wobbly stitches. One silk scrap in rosé has a beautiful dark lilac and red ornamental print.

I almost bought some gorgeous and huge Ukrainian jewellery made from woven rocailles, which I don't have the opportunity to wear. So I went back to hoarding colours at our Festival of Wool and Yarn. Again, I couldn't resist the vintage bobbins. More in the AltText.
Are there more people who hoard colours against grey realities?

Saris silk wrapped in a strand, colour spectrum between pink, yellow, beige and light blue.
I looked for embroidered and originally coloured sari rests in vain, the trader almost only has overdyed silk: "people no longer want it too colourful."

Variegated embroidery thread in colour collections like yellow, rose, blue, brown-green etc. It is pure hoarding, at 1 E the strand I had to take 10, I couldn't stop at 7 or 9! I still don't know what I will make with it but I love variegated yarn for collages or stitching 3D moss.

It was great that the people from Auvergne were there again to supply me with ancient wooden bobbins: here are some in all sizes. One of the bobbins is wrapped with a self-coloured fabric ribbon. I use it to make scroll books from fabric or paper art. Hard to explain. My colleagues: Oh you embroider Thoras!

The beginning of a scroll book: The fabric is brightly purple (dyed with fruit tea). I placed different scraps from saree silk and lace on it and will fix them with "wild", intuitive embroidery like a collage. Colour spectrum: purple, rose, and yellowish green. These scroll books will be fixed on the wooden spools. They can be read like a Torah or hanged open on a wall.

Yesterday I started a new project: a textile #scrollBook, something like an #artBook as a #scroll.
The photo shows my work to find a collage composition. When I'm satisfied with that sample, I'll fix the pieces with wild #embroidery. Later I'll "write" with #stitches. More info: alt text!

A wide band of cotton flannel, purple irregular dyeing with red tee. The fabric comes from the outer cloth of a cloth nappy that I wore as a baby. Gauze was used on the inside and flannel on the outside. Collage elements of sari silk, white lace and used teabags attached with pins. Colour spectrum: shades of purple, yellow-green. The elements will be fixed with intuitive embroidery in similar colours. Beside it my needle book (made from a vintage book) and scissors.

A large dark brown wooden spool with the purple fabric wound onto it. The antique bobbins come from old weaving mills. Dyed with red tea and fixed with salt, the fabric gets an interesting degraded colouring of blueish purple.

Example of a scroll book made with white tissue. A metal clip will hold the end to make it easier to roll up the book. You can either store it rolled up or hang it open on the wall.

Some of the white fabric in concentrated black tea. In a hot tea bath, after some hours, the fabric will be dyed in natural colours.

1/ My new #VisibleMending project: This linen-yarn T-shirt is a memento of my dog, who once got stuck at the bottom with his claw and tore a hole. It's darned in the shape of a yellow beetle. To make the whole thing more harmonious, I'm going to do a few small appliqués elsewhere today. @visiblemending

A navy blue T-shirt, darned in cool yellow. On top as a colour sample: 2 rolls of pearl yarn in dark pink and pale green. 2 rolls of sari silk: one light green with yellow and one bright green with pink and pink stripes. The photo is not completely colour-true.

Do you perhaps know if there are any projects in India where you can buy the leftovers directly from the women who work in production so that more money benefits them? Jeans with absolutely wild and colourful visible mending as a statement against fast fashion. Some scraps are saree silk.

3-D realistic paper art beetle (Cucujus cinnaberinus) in a shrine embellished with embroidered saree silk. The green silk is embroidered with blue and rose-coloured flowers.

Talisman, constructed like a collage of saree silk, partly embroidered, Applications of two hand-carved bone beads, a pendant made of amber and glass beads and a copper double spiral. The talisman is mounted on a blue monotype with a rich ornament. It hangs on a yellow and a red coloured twig.
