Qu’est-ce l’hameçonnage par code 2D?

damn i had NO IDEA that QR codes were i invented IN THE NINETIES and were originally created to label auto parts
i always thought they were WAY newer
"A QR code, quick-response code, is a type of two-dimensional matrix barcode invented in 1994 by Masahiro Hara of Japanese company Denso Wave for labelling automobile parts."
New favourite way to transfer awkward strings between computers. *beep*

I was caught in a QR scheme a while back - a ransomware attack. The QR code was in fact free (for a while) and offered a feature that you could change the URL after it was generated, which it did by directing the QR code back to its own site, and letting you change the URL it redirected to.
... and that enabled the "ransom". After a couple of weeks it would not redirect any more unless you paid their license fee, so no longer free.

Tired of "free" QR code generators that are full of ads and trackers, that share your data, and that want to sell you something? Me too. Here's my act of resistance: I made a one-page site that works entirely in your browser to generate a simple QR code. And that's all it does. You can download the HTML page and run it locally, even. Read the source; nothing up my sleeves. Just a QR code.
My offer to you -- I will continue to pay for the domain name and web hosting for it, myself. If you find it valuable, you can pay it back by creating your own useful thing for the world and releasing it for free. Let's take back the friendly web, one vexingly-monetized utility at a time!
Does anyone using Google's stock pixel #Android know how to set it up so scanning a #QRcode with a URL will just copy it to the clipboard or show me the text and let me decide what to do, not immediately open the browser and send me to maybe useful info maybe phishing maybe malware?
On my previous Xiaomi phone the scanner app showed me the QR code content and offered a number of actions to choose, which seems obviously safer than immediately sending my browser there.
Deciphering the dilemma: The surprising impact of QR code menus on diminishing customer loyalty
Despite potential benefits for #restaurant operators, nuanced effects of #QRcode #menus on customer behavior and experience remain relatively unknown. This research investigates the influence of QR code vs. traditional menu on customer loyalty. In two studies, we find that QR code menus diminish customer loyalty (compared to traditional menus) due to perceived inconvenience. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1447677024001190
Textile QR Codes? Yes, that works. Tested for you on FrauD's QR code cross-stitch embroidery workshop at #38C3. Requires a needle, about nine meters of thread ... and a little patience #qrcode #crossstitch #hypotheses #pixel #pixelart
Apropos of the fact my work now demands it, created this today - a no-nonsense, browser-based QR code generator. Got thoroughly fed up of using slow / spam laden sites for this, and couldn't see a minimal, ready-to-go alternative. Thought I'd share in case of possible value to, well, anyone?

On topic: kap met http links!
Opmerkingen:
Nutzt hier zufällig jemand dynamisch generierte #QRCodes in @LibreOfficeDE Writer?

Oklahoma Revokes License of #Teacher Who Gave Class #QRCode to #BrooklynLibrary in #BookBan Protest
A former public high school teacher in Oklahoma had her teaching license revoked by the State Board of Education Thursday for providing students a link to a list of banned books posted online two years prior
By Associated Press, Aug. 23, 2024
"Oklahoma's education board has revoked the license of a former teacher who drew national attention during surging book-ban efforts across the U.S. in 2022 when she covered part of her classroom bookshelf in red tape with the words 'Books the state didn't want you to read.'
"The decision Thursday went against a judge who had advised the Oklahoma Board of Education not to revoke the license of #SummerBoismier, who had also put in her high school classroom a QR code of the Brooklyn Public Library’s catalogue of banned books.
"An attorney for Boismier, who now works at the Brooklyn Public Library in New York City, told reporters after the board meeting that they would seek to overturn the decision.
“I will not apologize for sharing publicly available information about library access with my students,” the former teacher posted on X. “My livelihood will never be as important as someone’s life or right to read what they want.'
[...]
"Teachers in public schools across the country continue to face scrutiny at the local and state level as lawmakers in Republican-led statehouses push forward with book bans and restrict curriculum on issues related to race, gender, and sexuality such as in #Iowa and #Utah. "
