Singer is in a hurry and turns around

Sarah Brightman walks the city streets. Asphalt. Spring. She should to be in a hurry for a record. And, so, it is a city. Showcase of stores. Everything is so bright and interesting. You, walk the same street. To buy a cartridge for Nes or gamepad. And Sarah Brightman in a hurry for soundrecord

I had made up my mind to be tolerant and sit through the #ABC shitshow (#Sarah and #Speersie) and while #Laura was on point, my blood pressure was up half way through Sarah's interview with the #Treasurer.

Sarah kept using coalition talking points to question the Treasurer but when in his answer the Treasurer compared his budget to the coalition' s non-existant financial policies and its record Sarah tells the treasurer off for not talking about his budget. WTF ?

I turned it off. I will learn more about the budget from better #Journalists who do their homework and explain the budget without political bias. All this fishing for gotchas is unnerving and frankly childish.

I'm just glad I didn't stick around for Speersie, I would've had to take blood pressure meds, a cup of chamomile tea and gone to bed for a rest otherwise.

#Meta won a legal victory this week against #Sarah #Wynn-#Williams,
a former employee who recently published a memoir of her time at the company titled
“Careless People: A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed, and Lost Idealism.”

An arbitrator ruled that the company has made a valid argument that Wynn-Williams, who worked at Facebook (now Meta) from 2011 to 2017, may have violated the
non-disparagement agreement she signed when leaving the company.

The ruling states that Wynn-Williams is temporarily prohibited from promoting
— or, “to the extent within [her] control, from further publishing or distributing”
— her book until private arbitration concludes.

However, “Careless People” remains available for purchase,
and may in fact be benefitting from the “Streisand Effect,”
in which attempts to suppress information only serve to further publicize it.

As of Sunday afternoon, “Careless People” was the number three bestselling book on Amazon.

Macmillan, which published “Careless People” through its imprint Flatiron Books, said in a statement that
the arbitrator’s decision “has no impact” on the publisher
and that it will “absolutely continue to support and promote” the book.

The publisher added that it is “appalled by Meta’s tactics to silence [its] author through the use of a non-disparagement clause in a severance agreement.”

“To be clear, the arbitrator’s order makes no reference to the claims within Careless People,” Macmillan said.

“The book went through a thorough editing and vetting process, and we remain committed to publishing important books such as this.”

Rep.-elect #Sarah #McBride (D-Del.),
the first #transgender person elected to Congress,
said Sunday that House Republicans’ #bathroom #ban is an “attempt to distract from what they are actually doing.”

“Every single time, every single time we hear them say the word ‘trans,’ look what they’re doing with their right hand,” she continued.

Earlier this week, Rep. #Nancy #Mace (R-S.C.) introduced a bill aimed at prohibiting transgender people from facilities on Capitol Hill that match their gender identity.

House Speaker #Mike #Johnson (R-La.) later announced a new policy barring transgender people from using Capitol bathrooms matching their gender identity.

“All single-sex facilities in the Capitol and House Office Buildings — such as restrooms, changing rooms, and locker rooms — are reserved for individuals of that biological sex,” Johnson said previously.

“It is important to note that each member office has its own private restroom, and unisex restrooms are available throughout the Capitol.”

McBride said Sunday that she has “had conversations with colleagues in the Democratic caucus already that
— that span diversity of thought about how the party should engage on a whole host of issues.”

“But I think we are all united that every single American deserves equal rights.

I think we are all united that attempts to attack a vulnerable community are not only mean-spirited, but really an attempt to misdirect,” she added.

The GOP, already the party of sexism, is getting more gratuitous with its toxic masculinity.
Everywhere one looked at the convention, Republicans were exalting maleness
with an ardor that reads as "defensive" to outsiders but appears to be a convincing display to those inside the MAGA cult.
The overcompensation led to a grand finale featuring both pro wrestler #Hulk #Hogan and Ultimate Fighting Championship president #Dana #White,
rather than the traditional activists and politicians one hears at a convention.
Hogan declared Trump a "#gladiator,"
which should be funny applied to a doughy senior citizen caked in make-up, -- but appears to have been taken at face value by the RNC crowd.
Along with the James Brown song, Trump used "#Macho #Man" by the Village People as intro music, still indifferent to the irony of the song.

The boys club vibe spread throughout the convention.
Women were welcome, but only as support staff.
A few years ago, female provocateurs like #Greene were riding high, feeling like they could troll their way into MAGA stardom like their male counterparts.
The message being sent at the GOP's 2024 convention:
It's time for the gals to take a back seat.
#Kari #Lake, the current GOP senate candidate for Arizona and failed gubernatorial candidate, did not have a good convention.
Her speech was early in the evening on Tuesday, and poorly attended.
Lake, a former newscaster, is not getting the juice she seemed to think would be hers if she rebranded as a MAGA loudmouth.
She did her best, dropping the #Sarah #Palin-associated phrase
"mama bear" liberally throughout her speech.
She even tried to rile up the crowd by yelling "fake news" at the media section.
The two-minute hate fell flat.
There were only a handful of reporters even sitting in the press section. Even Fox News declined to air her speech.

🪸🐠 GREAT SOUTHERN REEF 🐠🪸

Introducing stunning short film:
Now You See Me – Great Southern Reef

As children, #Sarah Munro and #AliceWesleySmith spent endless days frolicking in the kelp forests of the #GreatSouthernReef. As adults, their play evolved into a passionate resolve to do something to protect this jewel of the great southern ocean.

‘Now You See Me – Great Southern Reef’ is Sarah and Alice’s ode to their intimate connection with the reef,

An anti-Trump group backed by billionaires Reid Hoffman, Seth Klarman and John Pritzker is launching a $50 million ad campaign featuring disaffected Trump voters—while some conservative billionaires coalesce behind the former president as it’s become clear he’ll secure the GOP nomination.

🔸Republican Voters Against Trump🔸, which is funded by the 🔹Republican Accountability PAC, 🔹aims to raise $30 million, in addition to the $20 million it’s already raised, for an advertising campaign featuring 👉videos of former Trump voters explaining why they won’t cast their ballots for him again this year, its founder #Sarah #Longwell told the New York Times.

#Reid #Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn and a prolific Democratic donor, is one of the Republican Accountability PAC’s biggest backers, donating $2 million in both January and June last year, according to Federal Election Commission filings that show his $4 million accounts for half of what the group raised last year.

#Seth #Klarman, who runs the Boston-based Baupost hedge fund and is a vocal Trump critic who has donated to both parties, gave $1 million to the group in May last year.

#John #Pritzker, of the billionaire family that founded Hyatt hotels, gave a total of $1 million to the group through two $500,000 donations in June and November last year.

Founded during the 2020 campaign, Republican Voters Against Trump is ramping up its anti-Trump efforts as the former president is now the de facto Republican nominee.

♦️Meanwhile, conservative billionaires are lining up behind Trump ♦️, including shipping and packing company founders #Liz and #Dick #Uihlein, the Financial Times reported this weekend,
and aerospace billionaire #Robert #Bigelow, according to Politico—all previous donors to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ failed presidential campaign.

Continued thread

The movement’s triumphs are now visible but its engine remains hidden:
A billion-dollar network of groups, most of which are registered as tax-exempt charities or social welfare organizations.

Taking advantage of gaps in disclosure laws, they shield the identities of most of their donors and some of the recipients of the funds.

Among those who’ve been paid by the groups are leading thinkers and individuals with close personal ties to #Leonard #Leo — including a whopping $7 million to a group run by a close friend and his wife.

They also include a for-profit business for which Leo himself is chairman and which received tens of millions of dollars from his nonprofit network.

Leo’s role as the central figure in this movement has long been known, culminating in his acquisition last year of what many believe to be the largest political donation in history.

Few are aware of the extent to which the movement’s baby steps were taken in concert with #Ginni #Thomas.

Two months before the #CitizensUnited decision, but after the justices had signaled their intentions by requesting new arguments, attorney #Cleta #Mitchell — later to play a role in Donald Trump’s false claims about the 2020 elections — filed papers for Ginni Thomas to create a nonprofit group of a type that ultimately benefited from the decision.

Leo was one of two directors listed on a separate application to conduct business in the state of Virginia.

Thomas was president. She signed it on New Year’s Eve of 2009, and Crow provided much of the initial cash. A key Leo aide, #Sarah #Field, would come aboard to help Thomas manage the group, which they called #LibertyCentral.
