My employer had to ask me to fill out a survey. And so I answered!

They are going to so know who this was from! I'm the only one who has not been "upgraded" to Windows 11 after they overheard me when my boss was on the phone with them "if they are going to upgrade my desktop, it better be #Linux or #FreeBSD"

Ok, wow, another #Linux thing just happened that I didn't expect to work:

I noticed a high-pitched sound coming my new system, pressed the super key, typed in „fan“, opened #CoolerControl, saw that two #fans were running at 100%, turned of of them two 85% (which Just Worked(tm)!111?!), noise is gone 🤯

Thanks, #Bazzite! 😍

(It's also kind of mind-blowing to me that #RGB control works out of the box with #OpenRGB, what magic is this!?)

@nixCraft It's been #YearOfTheLinuxDesktop for me since 1998..

Except for lacking games for a while, I've been thrilled to not use Windows, and begrudgingly use a Mac on occasion.

There is no better bunch of desktops than Linux's..

KDE/Plasma, GNOME, XFCE, MATE, Cinnamon, LXDE, etc.

I gave up, in recent years, trying to convince anyone else, and have just been the change I wanted to see in the world.. But lemme tellya.. Marketing departments have been more powerful than my life of example.

There's this interesting thing MATE has been doing lately: I close an application, and instead of the next window on the stack gaining focus, it only halfway gains focus.

So a terminal window will have the "this window isn't in focus" cursor and the titlebar will be in the "not in focus" color, but if I type, that window gets the key events.

Interesting. Useless and not desirable, but I wonder how things are structured that these focus types are not aligned.

#fediverse #linux #tip For folks that have embraced the #yearofthelinuxdesktop and, like me, are addicted to booklet printing *anything* that needs to be printed, you might have been disappointed to find pretty lackluster support for printing booklets on 'nix.
What you're looking for is 'Boomaga'. I stumbled upon this in a comment in a thread from a decade ago and have no idea why it isn't more widely recommended. It's great.
