Person in Administration: “can you explain to me how ‘admins’ work in Jira?”
Me: “… that’s a perfectly reasonable question and I’m going to have to go with ‘no, I probably can’t’ — not in any way that would make sense.”

Instead we decided to go with a specific example 8)

Updated #TaskJuggler to the latest version in my #COPR repository for @fedora :

copr.fedorainfracloud.org/copr

TaskJuggler is an Open Source project management tool. It's full of great features---scheduling, resource allocation, gannt charts, reports and reporting, all of it. See the documentation here: taskjuggler.org/documentation.

I use it to manage all my work projects, and it's a real boon. Give it a go!

Edit: The job vacancy is now closed. Thanks for boosting, this is no longer necessary!

The project management tool Height.app is shutting down, which is a real bummer - our company was one of the early adopters and we have used it for years. Height had one of the best designs I've ever seen, and I had high hopes for it.

This is a reminder that any service can be shut down at any moment, with no safeguards in place. It's also a reminder of the power of open source - something we don't have in this case.

I have a lot of requirements for a project management tool - most notably a solid API, linkable tasks with task IDs, and a good user interface. After this experience, I'd prefer something open source. Maybe Plane.so, looks very similar to Height.app?

Any solid alternatives to tools like Jira, ClickUp, Height, or Favro? I'm open to suggestions.

YouTube going desperate and cracking down on alt frontends took another victim, since Thursday evening (or afternoon?) FreeTube can't play any videos (live stream playback still works):

✨ Are you creating OKRs or just making to-do lists? ✨

Getting things done is great—but that’s the job of project management. If you need to drive an outcome, that's what OKRs are for. Mixing the two? That’s a recipe for confusion.

In OKR Forecast 2025: Insights from the Experts, I break down this common mistake and how to fix it.
