Love these relief sculptures on 1980s housing on Edzell Street in the west of Glasgow. Created by Brian Kelly, they're titled The Modern Myth, and represent The Sea (top left), The Land (top right), Air (bottom left) and Space (bottom right). I think I'm right in saying the final panel includes the only sculptural representation of a space shuttle on the city's architecture.

#ColdWar mystery: Why did #JimmyCarter save #spaceshuttle?
#Carter, according to Kraft, returned from Strategic Arms Limitation Talks (SALT), and he had spoken with the Soviet leader, Leonid Brezhnev, about how US was going to fly shuttle over Moscow continuously to ensure they were compliant with agreements.
So when Frosch met with president and said #NASA didn’t have money to finish space shuttle, administrator got a response he did not expect: “How much do you need?”

This beautiful video shows the last leg of Enterprise's journey after retirement to the Intrepid Museum in NYC on June 6, 2012.

It was transported on a Marine barge on the Hudson River and lifted to her new home on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier the USS Intrepid.

Space Shuttle Atlantis carrying out its Rendezvous pitch maneuver (RPM) during STS-135.

The RPM allowed the crew members aboard the ISS to take many close up shots of the external of the Shuttle, including the heat shield, to determine whether or not it was in a safe enough condition for reentry.

RPMs became standard practice after the loss of Columbia due to holes in its heat shield.
