There is a difference between the biological end of a pandemic and the social end of a pandemic.

Covid infections are leaving people a shell of themselves and dead. We are hermits to avoid COVID. We wear N95 masks for medical appointments. Many of our events with extended family are not covid safe. So we don’t attend. "Effectiveness rapidly declined after the previous infection, dropping from 81.3% at 3 to 6 months to 59.8% in the next 3 months and 27.5% in the 3 months after that. Protection was negligible after 1 year. Efficacy was 59.5% in the first year, plummeting to 4.8% thereafter.

Overall effectiveness against symptomatic reinfection was 45.4%, declining rapidly thereafter"

Instead of the usual "I forgot my mask" dream, I had one last night where I was wearing it in a store AND so were other people-- nice ones too n95s, kf94, kn95s ! I was like YAY my subconscious finally is here!
