I'm a QA Engineer. I found a serious issue with an API and fixed it with a one-line change. I now have a junior dev refusing to sign off on the change unless I write a test for the entire functionality which was recently rewritten by devs with no tests.

Sounds like a Monday problem.

Happy Friday everybody.

Business Insider · GitHub CEO delivers stark message to developers: Embrace AI or get outBy Alistair Barr

I invented `.awesome-ai.md` - the new standard for AI tool discovery!

Like `.gitignore` for Git, but for AI tools on GitHub . My system automatically scans the entire GitHub and discovers new AI projects.

Edit: Thanks to @GeopJr@tech.lgbt for pointing this out: this AI assistant is a third-party project and not directly affiliated with the GNOME desktop. I was tripped up by the wording of the Phoronix post I shared, which could have made this point clearer. I'll leave the original post below for the sake of transparency and also in case it helps anyone else who was similarly confused.

I am very twitchy about what's happening with AI polluting every corner of Microsoft Windows and am worried the same will happen to at least some Linux distributions. I think the worry is warranted, but in this case I misfired--sorry about that.

I guess I won't be using GNOME ever again

Question for the Fediverse: If you wanted a new web browser that wasn't chrome or ff or any of their forks what features would you LOVE to have in a browser that either currently don't exist or are lacking

I just want to get some ideas. I know what I personally want but I'd love to hear what others would love to see.

Thanks.

🥳 New Kitten release!

Markdown and general renderer fixes.

Fixed:

• Nested Markdown sections rendering bug.

• Detection of components in Markdown where the opening tag spans multiple lines.

• Support for returning a component as a top-level object in a page.

• Slots in Markdown now work as they should (make sure you add them as block-level items, so with a leading and trailing empty line)

Enjoy!

Did a quick search to see if I can get a simple markdown editor that renders what I'm writing, and found this little tool that does just that.

Runs/installs on the system and has a very minimalist look, I quite liked it.

Has Linux/Mac/Windows support, I only grabbed the Linux one tho, so I only speak for that one.
