This is why we don’t want to give tech bros and corpos our IDs to use the internet. (When I looked at this app it only asked for a selfie, which seemed like a reasonable way to verify a woman is signing up.)

Your Phone: A Digital Fingerprint
Your smartphone isn’t just a gadget—it’s a tracker revealing your identity, location, and habits. Here’s how:
How You’re Tracked:
IMEI: Unique device ID, trackable without a SIM.
Bluetooth MAC: Beacons log your movements.
Phone Number: Ties to accounts and apps.
GPS/Wi-Fi: Apps and ISPs map your location.
Digital Fingerprint: Screen, OS, and settings create a unique profile.
Risks:
Ad targeting harvests your data.
Fraudsters exploit leaked IMEI or numbers.
Surveillance risks blackmail or data sales.
Protect Yourself:
Disable Bluetooth/Wi-Fi in public.
Use a VPN to hide your IP.
Limit app location access.
Update privacy settings regularly.
Proton Mail launches “Newsletters” view — a built-in tool to manage email subscriptions without giving up privacy.
No third-party access, no tracking, no ads. Just a cleaner inbox, on your terms. A welcome upgrade from one of the most privacy-respecting email providers.
Nice!
I donated to the @torproject the other day and got the hat as a gift, received today.
Delivery on this field works very well too. I've never seen a box like this arriving in this condition (forgot to take a photo).
And I didn't know that they're going to include some stickers either. A little extra surprise. Thanks!
Take a look at the photo, if you want this too, go and donate!

The hat BTW fits good
What do you think is the worst thing you have found in Terms and Conditions or a Privacy Policy?

A second thought occurred to me after the initial "Any company that does AI interviews is deeply unserious and should be avoided as an employer at all costs".
At least according to German data privacy laws, you generally cannot record a person without their consent.
But an AI is not a "person" in the legal sense, right? (And at the present time and for many decades to come, it is not a "person" in any other sense of the word...) So is there any legal problem with the interviewee recording the entire interview and sharing choice bits with the rest of the world for their amusement?

Facebook Tracked Teen Girls Deleting Selfies to Push Beauty Ads, Insider Claims
A former Facebook insider alleges the platform monitored teen girls who deleted selfies to serve them beauty ads. The revelations come from Careless People, exposing how Meta exploited emotional vulnerabilities for profit — a disturbing face of surveillance capitalism.
Why do you need my phone number for a receipt listing milk ground beef and dog treats? This shit is getting out of hand.
The old Mitch H joke about the receipt for a donut has gone hi-tech.

Mike Waltz Accidentally Reveals App Govt Uses to Archive Signal Messages
If these sound familiar, you're not using a privacy-first provider. What red flag phrases do you watch out for?
@arstechnica I wanted to read your article, because I value your information. But I can neither allow myself to read this nor share it with my followers (minuscule as they are in number) or anyone else, for that matter. I’m disappointed in your lack of respect for users’ privacy.
