#liiive is a platform for real-time collaborative annotation on #IIIF images. But sometimes you might want to share your work once it’s done, without allowing further edits or replies. Now you can!

The liiive dashboard now lets you switch rooms into read-only mode: Visitors can view the image and read annotations, but only the room owner can make further changes.

Available now: liiive.now

I’m not at #DH2025 this year 😞 but following along from afar! If you’re there, check out work from some of my friends & collaborators:

• Jamie Folsom is presenting "Extending Recogito Studio with Plugins" at the DHTech symposium this afternoon. (Cf. dh.tech/recogito-studio)

• Kathryn Wilson has a poster on "Digital Camerarius". Not that I contributed much... but I think my logo design made it onto the poster. 😉

Wishing everyone a great conference!

If you haven’t checked in on #IMMARKUS lately (understandable—there’s been a lot going on!)—we’ve added even more transcription service options.

You can now run OCR or full-text transcription with a single click using:

• Anthropic Claude
• Azure Computer Vision
• Google Gemini
• Google Vision OCR
• LLaMA & Qwen via kluster.ai
• OCR.space
• OpenAI GPT
• Volcano Engine Doubao 1.5 Vision Pro

Try it out here: immarkus.xmarkus.org

I consider taking up the #ExLibris #Friday series again; but probably not on Fridays, since that is one of my screen-free days.
I aim for writing something short or sharing some exlibris-related news every other week.
I have published a super basic website on norsk-exlibris.no/ where I will add content in diary-style. Do not expect fancy design or such: this will be as simple as possible.
I'm planning on setting up my own #IIIF server for the digitised images from my collection. Stay tuned!

In our quest to make #OCR as easy to use as possible, we've added two new services to #IMMARKUS: Google Gemini and OpenAI GPT. (You’ll need to bring your own API keys to use them.)

Both return full-text transcriptions–no bounding boxes–so you’ll need to select a region before running them. Works with local images and any #IIIF source!

Not sure who needs to hear this but if the digitised manuscript you are browsing has a IIIF manifest, then you can download the entire digitisation, that is, every single picture in the highest available definition. It is sometimes a bit tricky, but you can.

We’re working on an extension that lets you send images to OCR services right from your #IMMARKUS workspace!

• Submit full images or selected regions
• Run multiple passes, preview results
• Import word- or line-level annotations
• Works with local files and #IIIF

Got an OCR engine or map-text service we should support? Reach out!

Or just need a flexible tool to annotate historical images? Try IMMARKUS: immarkus.xmarkus.org
