And here it comes!
Another retro rabbit hole. Couldn't resist this one, especially with that colour scheme.

Amstrad Notepad Computer NC100.
Maybe way less useful than the NC200 with its floppy drive, but way more accessible here in Germany. And maybe modifiable, too.
We'll see.
Also, serial and parallel port and centre-negative power supply!

@nixCraft when I was around 12 years and got my first own PC, a #8086 #Amstrad, my cousin wrote together with me this first little program, after I asked him: "Andreas... was ist eigentlich dieses #QBASIC?" ("Andreas... what is this 'QBASIC'?")

It really made an impression on me and I thank him from the bottom of my heart! ❤️

All those discounts and "creator day", etc; I feel left out because my games are always completely free 🙄

Anyway, go and grab some FREE GAMES:

There are #amstrad, #zxspectum, #msx, #c64, #dos games (as some more!). You can play them on an emulator, of course.

Some also have Collector Edition in the actual media for the system (which can't be free because they are physical editions, I don't make the rules of the universe!), if you have the hardware.

The first stage of my CPC ZERO build - a hypothetical 6502 based Amstrad CPC taking inspiration from the prototype 6502 board and the final Z80 based CPC464.

I'm using period appropriate hardware, wire wrapping the build, and solving design challenges the way they had to in the eighties.

In this zero-th part I state my design goals, choose a build method and build out the CPU and ROM.
