I love that there's a database of Irish history/culture texts called “CELT” (“Corpus of Electronic Texts”)
I came across this because in the Opus codec, one of the layers is an algorithm with the same acronym (for “Constrained Energy Lapped Transform”)

@gutenberg_org @internetarchive is anyone doing anything about the idea of including the codec with the scan for future future generations? I love digital archiving but at the same time there are already videos in my own archive that I can no longer easily decode.

One of the most useful tools is to be able to cut an mp4/mov video, but not have to re-encode it. Avidemux used to do that for years on Linux, but now there's LosslessCut with a more modern interface (appimage found on github, there's also a flatpak).
As soon as I established he was relying on an external player for the OPUS file, it made sense to me that the game didn't rule out récent #codecs with massive out-of-band dictionaries, so I got my hands on the same source material.

One candidate was TSAC, a high fidelity general neural audio codec with a transformer model to further increase the compression ratio.

I just updated my article "Resize a video with FFmpeg for Mastodon" with new parameters for #FFmpeg to convert a #video to a #WebM #container using the #VP9 #codec for #video and the #Opus codec for #audio which are all #open, #royaltyfree and well-supported #formats.
This way you can easily convert very heavy videos before uploading them to #Mastodon while remaining within the strict limits.
