We're grateful for your continued support and collaboration!

#OpenInfrastructure is the backbone of #OpenAccess, #OpenResearch, #OpenScience, and #OpenKnowledge for the global public good. Let’s keep building together.

Lots of folks are asking about #OpenResearchEurope migrating to #OpenJournalSystems!

We're advancing #OJS features to underpin #OpenResearchEurope already, and the migration will take place in 2026, with OJS version 3.6.

Here's the 3.6 Public Roadmap: github.com/orgs/pkp/projects/3

We'll be sharing an announcement next week, and will be hosting a public webinar January 23, 2025, 8:00 - 9:00 AM PST (it will be recorded). Registration will be open soon.

Stay tuned for these announcements!

One #PeerReview down, another one appears in my inbox.

On a related note, has anybody ever reviewed for #OpenResearchEurope? This is my first time hearing from them, apparently it's something set up by the #EuropeanCommission and seems rather cool. However, the invitation letter left a very #PredatoryPublishing vibe through its choice of words, formatting, and typos.

BUT the paper they want me to review is fascinating and related to my expertise, so I am very tempted.

"Analysis of the requirements for the Open Source infrastructure of the Open Research Europe Publishing Platform"

➡️ Identifies PKP's community-driven #OpenJournalSystems (#OJS) among "a few mature existing solutions that could be further developed to support the future ORE platform."

The #EuropeanCommission is finally considering whether "#OpenSource software (#OSS)…can be used as a foundation for developing the new #publishing platform" for EC-funded #OpenAccess research.

Unfortunately, the new software would merely "underpin" #OpenResearchEurope (#ORE), not replace it. ORE is proprietary software owned by #TaylorAndFrancis. When the EC called for bids on ORE, it did not require open code despite many calls to do so.
