A truck loaded with thousands of copies of Roget's #Thesaurus crashed yesterday losing its entire load.
Witnesses were stunned, startled, aghast, taken aback, stupefied, confused, shocked, rattled, paralyzed, dazed, bewildered, mixed up, surprised, awed, dumbfounded, nonplussed, flabbergasted, astounded, amazed, confounded, astonished, overwhelmed, horrified, numbed, speechless, and perplexed. #40
Thorny devil, welcome to General Finnish Ontology YSO! YSO board had a meeting last week in which a good number of new additions were made to the ontology, among them the aforementioned beast alongside coconut lorikeet and diamondback moth, to name but a few. Being a general ontology of 30,000+ concepts YSO is not only about animals but animals are certainly most welcome, particularly if they look as stunning as these guys.

Vom 7.-9.

So #thesaurus comes from the Latin word meaning treasury or hoard, making it basically the same thing as a word hoard! https://www.etymonline.com/word/thesaurus #etymology

BONUS #JOKE:
I am mad I cannot find my thesaurus. Mad. Very mad. Really super mad. So, so mad. Like, unbelievably mad...
(It's #HootinTootinTuesday again! Post some jokes or funny memes under this hashtag today, and bring lots of smiles to #Mastodon.)
@fkamiah17 So I love the German word for #vocabulary = #Wortschatz. Wort = word, Schatz = treasure, the treasure of words. To find in hord-wynns.
I just found that this sense survives in the #thesaurus: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2021/nov/09/the-wordhord-daily-life-in-old-english-a-lexical-treasure-chest
@pixelpusher220 @stevesilberman It's a well-established fact that the #Thesaurus was Jesus's favorite dinosaur to ride.

Tomorrow, some #thesaurus building for @MinisterratCis, the day after it is time for some #OttomanDH with @qhod :)
And meeting DH friends, maybe convincing one or the other to join the fediverse and enlarge it into the south-eastern direction…

Small update from the #DiGA project: The #RuhrUniBochum university library, who kindly hosts our #SKOSMOS instance, took some time to develop a small extension for us. Now the DiGA #Thesaurus of #BuddhistArt displays illustrations of the concepts (where available). This is a big step forward, as having images makes understanding the visual concepts much easier! See e.g. https://w3id.org/diga/terms/1229329640 #DigitalArtHistory #CulturalHeritage #DigitalHumanities
We published a dataset paper about the #DiGA #Thesaurus for #BuddhistArt: Autiero, S., Elwert, F., Moscatelli, C., & Pons, J. (2023). The Seven Steps: Building the DiGA Thesaurus. Journal of Open Humanities Data, 9: 11, pp. 1–14. DOI: https://doi.org/10.5334/johd.111
It's great to see it out there, and we hope it encourages constructive criticism, re-use and possibly future collaborations. #Gandhara #ArtHistory #Buddhism #DigitalHumanities #LinkedOpenData #SKOS
