Question about #Cohost, the most popular social platform no one talks about: now that it's going to die, are the developers going to release the source?

If not, consider this my last post ever on the subject.

I'm James, I've only recently started using Mastodon. Mainly after #cohost shut down.

I love #music. I play guitar and sing, solo and in a band. I live in the #bluemountains in Australia.

I'm also a software dev who's pretty active in the #JS ecosystem. I love #postgres and #duckdb I used to be more active in #fp spaces but not so much now.

Completely as a hobby I'm interested in #gamedev / #gamedesign

I'm fairly #left leaning but I don't get too political online.

I feel conflicted feelings about my Keep Em Chosting Eggbug propaganda poster design because I kinda do want it on a shirt as a memento of what I did for #cohost but also it feels a little shifty to make and profit off merch for something that failed because it didn't make enough money

I've been here for a bit, almost two weeks actually, but I haven't gotten much engagement or conversation bc I haven't fully gone in on it yet, so this is gonna be my first step at getting out there and making a bunch of connections. I'm Cookie, and I'm an amphimorpho! Proud shapeshifter, through and through. I like anime, video games, music, art, media analysis, nature, and animals. I can be awkward and anxious, and I really struggle to edit and condense my thoughts, but I'm very nice, smart, and understanding. I just got an email from Cohost with my data.

Apparently, I forgot that I had signed up for an account when I first left Xitter. I am pretty sure I didn't even post on it once.

Just, very polite of them to reach out with my data even if there's likely very little data to share.

I made a little web tool to present/search the “find-your-friends.json” file from your #cohost data export in a nicer view https://friends-of-eggbug.vercel.app/

Everything is stored locally and it remembers your file so you can use the page as a quick way to access your list for later.

Someone asked how hard it would be for a #Mastodon client to implement a "Following" feed like on #Cohost. Not hard at all, here's a quick prototype I made in a few minutes in @tokodon

If I were to turn it into a real feature, it need a better looking list, and filtering options of course...
