For his most recent birthday, my dad got an incubator to raise his own chickens from hatch to henhouse. He's been delighted with the results and having so much fun with his chickens. They keep him busy, and sometimes, the baby chicks keep us laughing... especially this first one with the grump arse glare.

End of May chicken updates!

All 10 original chicks are getting strong and doing well! I've taught at least a couple of them how to use the chicken swing, and I'm so proud of them. They bob their head to keep up the momentum and everything, it's wonderful.

We added 3 black copper maran chicks to the total numbers today! They're inside until they're big enough to begin the slow integration into the flock!

10 healthy adolescent chickens are filling their coop to come see me and what I'm doing taking their picture.

From the creator of the currently defunct UHN Yakani Ekelanna Community Garden and Food Forest (unitedhoumanation.org/yakani-e) comes a new garden, now without any tribal administration to be frustrated with!

Welcome to Raccoon Oak Farm, on traditional Ishak lands, western side of the Atchafalaya Basin. Started in the summer of 2023, during the most intense heat wave we have seen to date (but not the worst to come.)
