"Republicans have managed to unite two health industry sectors normally at war — insurers and hospitals — by threatening to cut Medicaid.

Lobbyists for both industries, faced with the prospect of losing billions of dollars in fees, are scrambling to convince lawmakers that tens of millions of low-income Americans who rely on the program will suffer."

"But while working on the surgeon general’s report, Dr. Nestle witnessed the power food companies wielded; although the report cited overconsumption of saturated fats as a leading cause of death, Dr. Nestle was not permitted to recommend eating less meat, a top source of the fats, because of the Reagan administration’s unwillingness to upset the meat industry."

"The complaints come as the Trump administration is dismantling wide swaths of the federal government — including conducting mass layoffs at the FDA — and filling some key regulatory positions with industry-friendly voices. The new head of the FDA division that oversees baby formula is a corporate lawyer who previously defended Abbott against a lawsuit."

Something’s slightly wrong here. British Steel owned by the Chinese company, Jingye. I’m not against international cooperation, but China isn’t exactly top of our friendly country list. Steel production’s a pretty important industry, and we shouldn’t be relying on China. In a quote from “Blackadder” it’s like putting your “John Thomas” in the hands of a lunatic with a pair of scissors.

Until February 2025, Europe had been a willing tool of US foreign policy. Realizing it just now, the rulers cannot change their belief in standing for good versus evil. So they choose to change their narrative from one of enlightenment to one of rearmament.

"In spite of all the grand-standing and posturing, Europe has been reduced to a geopolitical appendage of the United States, following Washington’s lead in prolonging the conflict while shouldering the costs. While the EU sees itself as a global moral authority, it has been sidelined in actual negotiations. Instead, peace talks are being brokered by the U.S. and China, with Europe playing no decisive role. Even within the European Parliament, there exists a near-religious belief in a narrative that contradicts basic military and economic realities."
