Looking for help to play songs bought from iTunes via Navidrome. Just discovered that some of the music I thought I had bought and paid for cannot be played. Recommendation is to enable iTunes Match, let it find the matches and then download the matched version.

I’m willing to do that, but is there an alternative? I don't mind doing work if it gives a good result.

I started my #selfhosting journey this week

The first app I got up and running was #Mealie. I now have a tablet in my kitchen so I can search through and read my recipes with ease. Much better than the Google Drive folder I've been using for years!

Now I'm working on getting #Navidrome set up. I'm so excited to have a dedicated place to store my music and to have it be accessible from any device on my local network.

Next I need to find a decent way to share notes between all my devices. Not yet sure if this needs to be a dedicated app on my local server or if something like Obsidian + Syncthing is the way to go.

All this makes me want to get more involved in FOSS projects. I'm glad there are people out there that keep tech enjoyable and full of love

I think I'm just about done ("done") with my winter break nerd project of putting my #music on #Navidrome—an open source music streaming platform. Overall it was fun, and not too frustrating. I'll do a blog post eventually!

The most fun part was re-discovering old, weird music in my collection. For example, this old YACHT song from back when it was just Jona Bechtolt and he performed weird fun electronic music in my friend's living room in college:

My end-of-break nerd project is setting up some kind of self-hosted music streaming service to start getting away from Spotify. Currently looking at #navidrome as a good option. I'm excited, but not looking forward to going back to the old ways of managing metadata manually—seems like it could be a pain.

Heck yeah! I stopped using any of the streaming services years ago, refocusing on my personal library. Started ripping my CD's and cashing in on all hundreds of download codes I'd accumulated from the purchase of records.

Now I can hear any of my library anywhere I am thanks to some #selfhosted software like #navidrome

Shoutout to #bandcamp - a fantastic resource as well - putting cash directly in the hands of the artists.

Olen aika toiveikkaan innoissani tästä paikallisesta musiikkikokoelmasta, jonka olisi tarkoitus korvata Spotify.

Ensinnäkin tulee hyvä ja luottavainen fiilis siitä, että omistan ostamani musiikin, mutta sen lisäksi on kiva, että käyttämistäni rahoista iso osa (tai jopa kaikki) menevät suoraan artistille.

Tykkään myös siitä, kuinka hyvin MusicBrainz Picard toimii biisien ja albumien metatiedon ylläpidossa. Tällä saralla taas hyvää fiilistä luo se, että se pohjautuu avoimeen dataan, jota kuka tahansa voi ylläpitää. Jos jokin tieto puuttuu tai on väärin, voin itse korjata sen ja samalla teen palveluksen kaikille muille.

Viimeisenä tässä kokonaisuudessa on Navidrome. Avoimen lähdekoodin itse hostattava striimauspalvelu on kuin luotu mulle. Se toimii upeasti jopa selaimella, sitä voi käyttää useilla mobiilisovelluksilla ja bonuksena se osaa lähettää kuuntelutiedot ListenBrainziin, joka generoi kuuntelutilastot.

Tässä on aika moni asia kohdallaan! Nyt täytyy vaan kartuttaa omaa musiikkikokoelmaa
